Each of the three assistant principals was individually in charge of certain pro- grams and activities. Mr. Patrick Gregory, the Assistant Principal of Management, was mainly responsible for club and ex- tra-curricular activities and the A.P. pro- gram. Mrs. Janelle Wade was the Assistant Principal of Curriculum, which involved supervising the entire guidance and test- ing programs. Mr. John Owens served as the Assistant Principal of Administration, whose major duties included acting as the Athletic Director and overseeing the custodians and building maintenance. Mr. Hubert Brantley was Principal Orlan Briant's Administrative Assistant, a job which consisted of helping the princi- pal and vice-principals whenever possible. Mr. Brantley was also in charge of interns and school safety, also was attending col- lege part-time to obtain his E.D.S. degree in Education. Our Community School Administrator for Brandon High's Adult Evening Pro- gram was Mr. Gary H. McBride. He had received his Master's degree in Adult Education from the University of South Florida and had taught English at Dowdell Jr. High before coming to Brandon High in 1971 . Over 600 students were enrolled in evening program, which offered adults the opportunity to receive a high school diploma, basic educational skills, com- munity instruction, and paraprofessional classes and activities. Students could also attend to prepare for the G.E.D. Our four deans displayed a variety of backgrounds and experiences, but all stood united on the purpose of their job. Each felt his responsibilities to include not only disciplining students, but also main- taining an atmosphere conducive to learning for the entire school. The two morning deans were Mr. John Burgess and Mrs. Ruby McDonald. Mr. Burgess, a graduate of the University of Florida, had previously taught at both Leto and Plant High Schools. Mrs. Ruby McDonald managed both a career and a family, whom she felt had been very sup- portive of her job. ln the afternoon session, Mrs. B.J. Stel- ter and Mr. W.T. Campbell served as the deans. Mrs. Stelter had taught exception- al children for many years before coming to Brandon. She had received her Mas- ter's in Education from the University of Tampa. Mr. Campbell, new to Brandon in 1980, had received his B.S. and Master's degrees from Florida A. and M. Always willing to help and counsel stu- dents whenever necessary, these mighty eagles kept B.H.S. running smoothly. :,-- 'i gr 107-7- . .- . V 'M .A . .... - Asst.
