I x ' i'A' J - , . 15 V The arrival of a rock concert in town was obvious around the school as the rush for tickets and gossip of the group's latest hit song sprang up. A number of popular rock groups staged concerts dur- ing the year such as Kansas, Styx, Pat Benetar, and Bruce Springsteen. The Lakefield Civic Center and Bayfront were where many of the rock groups per- formed. Being sophomores made it easier on us to attend these concerts be- cause a number of them lasted long into the night on a school day. Usually the day after a concert, jerseys of all kinds and colors could be seen by loyal rock fans. The recent interest in new wave music and country and western didn't worry rock fansg they were sure of rock's firm founda- tion in the music world. The death of form- er Beatle John Lennon was a great loss and terrible tragedy to many. Although eat Goes changes occurred in some peo- ple's taste in music, rock lived on, as proven by the popularity of rock concerts. M Y?
