No, it wasn't the first day of school for all sophomores -just for a few new ones being welcomed and shown around by one of their fellow sophomore class- mates. Being a new student had advan- tages that we old students didn't have. We had no one to show us around and to tell us where everything wasg nothing was as thoroughly explained to us as it was to new students by a special group of sopho- mores. This group of students was headed by Administrative Assistant, Hubert Brantley. This group was made up of six students who were actively involved with Brandon's many clubs and organiza- tions. The group included Paul McDowell, who served as the Sophomore Class President and whose interests inc wrestling and Student Government T Mason, who was the Sophomore Vice-Presidentg Adair Valdespino, was involved in Student Government senled on the Sophomore Senateg Kimbro, who was actively involved in Marching Band, Orchestra and Governmentg Easter Sarnecki, represented Student and Student Advisory Comm and Eva Peragowski, who was working a Hospitality Hostess. This group of dents had no particular nameg they just a group of students whom new dents looked to, to ask for help. Most students seemed to enjoy the specla attention they got from the welcomin committee.

Most students rode the bus eagerly yearning for that glorious day when they would arrive at school in the lap of luxury, or even in their best friend's jalopy. Many considered riding the school bus quite a chore. They rated their afternoon and evening rides right next to pulling teeth. But not all students found bus-riding tolerable. There were those devoted dents who were glad for the free portation to and from school. students grumbled, made faces, or accepted the free ride, they made it school on time most of the time.
