X , . N ist Q 3 Live Rock at l3.H.S. It was considered unnatural, even un- American, not to like music. Most of us could click off a list of popular rock groups effortlessly. While most of us listened to and danced to the music, some of our more musically talented friends actually learned to create their own rock music. Discovering that their sounds were pleas- ing, they sometimes joined with other musicians and formed bands. One such group was Equus. The band Equus was made up of four members who were Todd Smith, who played the drums, Danny Booher, the keyboard playerg Scott Prather, Base playerg and Wes Dearth, lead guitarist. Equus had played at BHS for Senior Day in 1980 and at a talent show where they received a standing ovation, but most of their playing was done at parties. In order for Equus to have been able to play everyone's Flock favorites by profes- sional groups such as Molly Hatchett, Styx, Flush, ACXDC, Led Zeppelin, and the ever-popular song Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd, they put in many hours of painstaking practice. Each member prac- ticed on his own instrument for about two weeks, and then the band came together to add theirfinishing touches to produce a final result of an electrifying Rock-n-Roll band performance. When asked why he enjoyed playing the drums and being in a band Todd Smith's reply was, The drums are a physical instrument. They require every- day dedication to practice. Todd also said that having played in front of a crowd of people was the most fantastic and natural high that he had ever experi- enced. This was why Todd planned to go on to college to major in music and hope- fully to pursue a career as a professional drummer. ,r Pam Hutchinson Todd Hutsko Ftobin Hutto Cindee Hyden Bruce Hyers Charles lden Alex lppolito Claire lrvvin Katsuya lshizeki Thelma Ishmael Candy Jackman Eric Jackson Julian Jackson ll Ken Jackson 4 - -1'-' I .Y - . Blue Jeans Never Die They Just Fade I uh , , was ' r I- f 1 -' f - tw, wggefs -,fav , 1 l 2-ff y Q L U35 Brandon students show the style of the times. Diane Law Troy Law Cindy Lawali Dale Lawless Even with all the new styles of designer jeans such as Jordache, Sassoon, Gloria Vanderbuilt, and Calvin Klein there were many students who preferred to wear their old blue jeans - the kind of jeans which we had for at least a year and a half, the ones that had barely any blue lelt in them, the ones which made us feel com- fortable and more relaxed at school. How could any of us have lived without our old jeans? Most of us never knew because we wore them at least once a week. Our old jeans were truly good friends which we could have never lived without.
