As top contenders forthe Western Con- ference, the Brandon Girls' Varsity Bas- ketball team was smaller than in past years, but what they lacked in size they more than made up for it in speed and spirit. The versatility of Kim Lambert, Kathy Lambert, Kathy Davis, Yolanda Holmes, Ginny Grandstrand, Julie Thompson, and Cynthia Gadson led the team offensively and defensively with strong drives, speed, rebounds and accuracy. Coaching the team for the first time, Coach Frank Vining added a new dimen- sion to the team's playing and spirit. Other members who rounded the team off to be a strong contender against rival teams were Carol Whitney, Angie Callender, Rene Danials, Anne Jamrog, Carrie Bak- er, Fleece Brooks, Terri Shettle, Kitrina Kelley and Edwina Griffin. ..,,.. , Griffin guards Julie Thomp a practice game.
