Students found that the clubs offered many activities related to the language that were not included in the regularclass. The Spanish Club, sponsored by Mr. Ralph Lopez, watched films about Span- ish speaking countries at their meetings and also had the chance to taste cultural foods and play games in Spanish. At Christmas time, they learned about and participated in the tradition of the pinata. In the German Club, which was spon- sored by Mrs. Barbara Anderson, the members discussed what could be done to improve their club. They also held a car wash and participated in the German Convention and Culture Day. They also celebrated Christmas by having a party with traditional German delicacies and with the room decorated with posters and objects from Germany. The German Club was still small, but it members hoped to, and intended to, hel it grow. A very special honor came to the Spa ish Club when its members won the pre idency of FSSC, the Florida State Spa ish Conference. That job took a lot of time and efio typing and mailing letters to the oth members of the FSSC, and keepin themselves and the other members i formed as to what was going on in Florid that applied to Spanish speaking peopl Brandon treated this honor with the r spect it deserved. With Mr. Malcol Chandler leading the way, the member ofthe FSSC took great pride in the work entailed. Both of these clubs boasted thriving merr berships and a great interest in the la guage and the country from which the originated. GERMAN CLUB - FRONT ROW: Janet Adie - Pres., Lisa Barfield - V.
