Outgoing is a word which best describes this year’s Mr. BHS, Purvie Green. Purvie has been very active in all aspects of high school student life. He has served willingly on the Student Council all four years, representing the student body as parliamen- tarian his sophomore year, reporter his junior year, and serving as vice president his senior year. Purvie was also elected class president his freshman, junior, and senior years. Classmates and teachers alike have bestowed honors upon Purvie. He was elected class favorite during each of his four years in high school. During his sophomore year, he was elected beau. Purvie was voted Most Athletic in the annual Who’s Who elec- tion during his senior year, and selected by the faculty to be featured in the Brandon High School Hall of Fame. He also represented the school at Boys’ State. Purvie has striven for excellence in the athletic program at BHS by distinguishing himself in both track and football. Further- more, Purvie has been an integral member of many clubs and organizations throughout his high school career and is presently an ac- tive member of the Beta Club, Key Club, and Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Purvie’s leadership and involvement have served as a model for his peers. Brandon High School is indeed fortunate to be represented by such an accomplished young man. 10

In considering the ideal candidate for Miss BHS, three qualities come to mind: school spirit, determination, and friendliness. All three are personified by this year’s Miss BHS, Missy Baker. Her years of dedication to the student council, service in student government, and devotion to cheerleading, exemplify her in- volvement with Brandon High School and displays her school spirit. Her hard work on the Lady Bulldog’s softball team and her diligence in the classroom are shining ex- amples of her determination. Missy never meets a stranger — thus she is well known for her friendliness. It is easy to see why Missy, with her cheerful disposition, was elected a class favorite for three years and class beauty, homecoming maid, and Most Popular her senior year. Missy, the daughter of Tom and Merle Baker, attends First Baptist Church. 11
