CLASS FLOWER Golden Narcissus CLASS COLORS Crimson and Gold CAB I ckufafzq The seniors of '45 have now reached the first step on the stairway to success. During their high school years a great deal of work has been mixed with an equal amount of pleasure. Never to be forgotten are the Homecoming Festivities, over which Vivian Halsted reigned as queen and the traditional Christmas Ban- quet climaxed by the reading of the class will and accompanied by a visit from.Santa Claus. On March 2lst the class play, Mr, and Mrs. North , was presented under the direction of Miss Rochlin. ln the latter part of May, many a good citizen of Brainerd was startled to see ordinarily sedate seniors parading through the streets in outlandish costumes. The occasion was, of course, Senior Dress Up Day. At last came the Baccalaureate services with Rev. E. I. Utzinger giving a farewell message to the seniors and the impressive Conirnence- ment exercises on May 30 with Howard Pierce Davis as speaker. Athletically the seniors were Well repre- sented with Bill Maxe and Dick Martinson taking honors in football and Chuck Wurnberg and Eivind Hoff doing likewise in basketball 'I Gene Herzog and Ruth Bolstad . . Much credit must be given to their advisors, Miss Laipple and Mr. Engbretson. The football and basketball teams consisted oi many Iunior boys. Norman Flaaten, LeRoy Gustad, and Arne Swanson took honors in basketball and Wally Kraemer, Chuck Halsted and Cornell Badger did likewise in football. Two of the cheerleaders were Iuniors, Betty Lowrance and Ioanne Vanni. In the band and choir some of the most outstand- ing players and singers were of this class. The student director of the band, Dorothy Hill, came from the Iunior rank. At Christmas, Ci group oi Iunior girls served at the Senior Banquet. The prom ot 1945, held on May 4, was a huge success. The Fort Snelling swing band provided the music for the unique affair. il., . ..r I r 1 '.'A x, I . If 1 .I A J K. Bronner t.r. e fi 5 1 I . .L V. R. Campbell 2. The play centered around Gusty Goodrich fLouise Harjesl, a 15 year old, Whose ideas and motives didn't seem to coincide with her father's fCecil Millerl- Arthur fPau1 Rosen- fieldt, Gusty's ardent admirer, was equally interested in Gusty's financial situation and in finding a way to finance Gusty's summer at camp. This was not enough. The real complica- tions began when Dr. Goodrich decided to let Gusty care for Carol, an invalid, bound to a Wheel chair. As summer approaches, Dr. Goodrich somewhat lessened his punishment of his daughter for wrecking the family auto. To everyone's surprise, Gusty showed she possessed sense and stamina in a hectic sit- uation and her father agreed to her camp excursion. As the curtain fell on this very successful play, Gusty reached the age of her dreams, l6, making everything complete. will 'B' Y . f'-5 it n :Lf . .'p A i ' fx ir' .
