O I encafz Cdffdfly In September 1940 a group of green sophomores entered the VVashington High School and alter three years of a great deal of work and an equal amount of fun, these same boys and girls are prepared to go out into the World as graduated Seniors. The election of Bob Britton as president and his able assistance Al Havnes, Doris Alexander, and Gene Sundberg, was the first important feature of the Senior year. These tour carried on the responsibility ot the Seniors very efficiently. The Seniors entertained in November at a homecoming football game and dance for the alumni. The cafeteria decorated by committees headed by Gene Sundberg and Betty Schierholtz, was the scene ot a gala Christmas banquet. A new celebration, initiated this year, was one honoring the basketball King, Iohn Garvey. The number of Seniors in the class rooms was lessened when many of them took advantage ol the Iunior College Accelerated program. April was a month of much activity. Under the able direction of Iohn Chalberg the Seniors produced a comedy Ever Since Eve . In this month also came the annual Tea sponsored by the P.T.A. In May the Seniors shed their civilian clothes and donned everything from uniforms to grass skirts. This occasion marked the annual Senior Dress-Up Day. The farewell address ot the Baccalaureate Services was given by Rev. R. P. Bronleewe with Dr. Frank A. Court delivering the Commencement Address. The shouts of joy at graduating were mingled with sighs ol sorrow as the Seniors said good- bye to good old W.H.S. i .
