As the dust settled, one of the Catchy Cowgirls, made another homerun. The team cheered as another cowgirl got up to bat. The townspeople heard a crack as the bat hit the ball. The cowgirl rounded first and was on her way to second as the flyball was caught. This made three outs. It was the bottom of the ninth inning and the Catchy CoWgirls were out in the field. They were amazing- pitching balls, striking the other team out, catching flies- the works! The game ended and the Catchy Cowgirls pulled another one through with the help of Coach Staples. As spring came about on the rolling plains of the mighty Westview Ranch, the baseball team came out of hibernation for another season. When the season came, Mr. Kaunonen seemed to get overly excited, for he was the rancher that organized the team of steers. Something else amazing happened also - was it possible for his voice to change from one monotonous tone to two monotonous tones?l?! Our team was seen wildly ripping the cover off the ball as they hit singles, doubles, triples, and home runs. The steers slaughtered the opposing teams as it was rare for them to , ever miss a catch and their base running was very well done. Yes, we at the Westview Ranch can be very proud of our baseball steers. 74 Softball And Baseball ,, , Catchy Cowgirls Row 1: Melanie Bodin, Kathy White, LoAnn Burkstrand, Robbie Timm, Lisa Bock, Tammy Fenner Row 2: Sandy Zarecki, Tammi Strelow, Linda Ernst, Renee Hagfors, Kathy West, Jodi Denny, Carol Auger, Connie Nordby, Zoe Freeman Row 3: Heidi Randall, Mary Campbell, Barb Brown, Jonelle Jamma, Marlys Carlson, Betty Lakeberg, Bonni Hasser, Jenny Willias, Tracy Seiffert Row 4: Tammy Paulson, Patricia Lysdahl, Barb Falk, Lisa Boomgaarden, Angela Westley, Connie Schmakel, Debra Maxwell, Robyn Turchi, Sarah Glidden, Raeann Hagfors, Coach Staples Batting Broncos Row 1: Dale Grundberg, Shawn Nelson, Greg Kranz, Tim Hasser, Scott Johnson Row 2: Jeff Anderson, Todd Potrament, Max Eng, Greg Hunt, Bryan Peterson, Mark Carlson, Todd Turnquist

Our bandits were wildly swinging at the little white ball. Were they out of practice or just trying to hit the coach? As the first match approached, the golfers looked forward to showing off their skills. They'd load into a covered wagon and be off to the Purple Hawk golf course to play in the woods-or was that with the woods ? The team did a lot of puttsing around, but finally got the iron out and began teeing off. The ball would move gracefully down the fairway, providing it wasn't caught in a sandtrap or lost in a pond. Our pros would then hit the ball up to the green where it fell into what looked like a gopher hole. My what an unusual sport'?! Well, however unusual, our teams were great on the golf course. Golf 73

Ready set ANG and they're off, aster than a speeding bullet, able to jump hurdles at a single bound! The girls jumped into another days practice yvith exercises and weight lifting, but that was just for startersg then they'd run the 440 and the 880 not to mention circling the town of lBraham with blazing speed. After all the practice and hard work it came time for the track roundup. As the girls loaded the covered wagon there was only praying, nailbiting, and of course chow time . When the wagon illies st -:K Michelle Sutter, Sandy Barnes, Bonita Doerfler, Chris Dubanoski, Yvonne ' Olsen, Melissa Bylund, Karen Almlie, Tatia Forsell H Q slowed to a halt at the Cf'X-f- opposing ranch, the girls charged for the outhouses, when they were off to do warmups. Soon they would learn the thrill of victory and the agony of defeat . 1: Gene Weidendorf, Tim Potrament, Jon Denny, Scott Lickness, Don Kropid- Herbie Johnson, Chip Gerdin, John Maslow Row 2: Bryan Peterson, Max Eng, Morgan, Dave Siltman, Melvin Bacon, Randy Johnson, Marc Bacon, Dan Reynert- Todd Potrament, Shannon Timm E ' Speedy Stallions In the spring, the Bombers track team came on to the pasture to ' outrun other outlaws. Many times Marshall Pearson tried to stop our tracksters from speeding, but they were too fast for him. Finally he gave up and just decided to watch the team. This he found, was much more exciting than chasing them. The coach explained all the track events to the marshall. He found out that there were events where you could gallop for 220, 440, and 880 yards. There were also events for posses of four people, not to mention all the events held in the pasture area. We sure agree with the marshall that our boys did a fine job this year. V . ', .l-Iss ni n- - I . , X 1 xiii. s Track 75
