XJ' 'bmw-r -'Wx Verne Heise English Sheriff Nelson ran out of his office and shouted, Stop! Dismount your horses! Outlaw Michelson and Outlaw Johnson were following Jesse. Suddenly . . . Michelson turned and shotg Sheriff Nelson fell to the ground. You could hear galloping horses as the townspeople crowded around Sheriff Nelson. Barber Keis helped him to Doc' Melcher's office. Nurse Meyer helped the sheriff until the doctor arrived. Meanwhile .. . Jesse James and the outlaws were hiding out at the school where the teachers, Mr. Benzen, Mrs. Grave, and Miss Peterson, were holding their annual meeting. Deputy Livingston came barging in the door and shot at Jesse! Jesse shouted, We give up! Later, at the trial . . . The witnesses, Froyen and Forsberg, testified against Jesse and the outlaws. The jury members, Oslin, Kaunonen, and Brennan, made their decision, and Judge Christenson announced that they were to be hung. Mr. Benes jumped for joyg they were his first victims in weeks. Marms Back in the days of the Gold Rush, in a small town called Westview, the weekly auction was being held. Auctioneer Bodeen called out, sold to the man in blue. When the auction was over, most of the townspeople went over to the saloon for a drink. Someone in the crowd yelled, Fahrni, give me a shot of whiskey! Looking over to see who said it, Mrs. Leaf and Ann Peterson, the neighborgood gossips, were very surprised to see Preacher Heise drinking whiskey. They were so stunned, they hurridly went out the door. Nelson started playing the piano, while Legs McConnell and Wiggles Swenson came on the stage to entertain the men. Wesley, the town drunk, staggered into the saloon shouting Jesse James Knudtson is coming to town! Everyone got excited and ran out into the street. Bounty Hunter Skarsten came riding through town searching for Jesse. He went to notify Sheriff Nelson that Jesse had just robbed the Braham bank and was heading for Westview. Suddenly, Banker Cox came running down the street yelling, My bank has been robbed, and Jesse has teller Londgren as a hostage!
