However they have shown that they possess a great fighting spirit and always die fighting, an asset which always leads to winning teams. As yet basketball and baseball are the only branches of athletics which are fostered by the local school. A football team is lacking due to the small enrollment but a team in this branch is also hoped for in a few years. With a large amount of promising material in the school, the future athletic prospects may be said to be very good. , Every member of the High School is a member of the Athletic Association. The purpose of the Athletic Association is to further school spirit, and to finance the High School athletic teams. No membership fee was charged this year, but a tag day was conducted and nearly every member of the High School purchased a tag. Braham is classed as a Departmental High School, due to the fact that property valuation of the village does not exceed 3300,000, the amount which is necessary to become a member of the High School As- sociation. The other teams in our sub-district are North Branch, Chisago City, and Taylors Falls. TOURNAMENTS The inter-class tournament which was conducted during the basket- ball season was very interesting, and also brought forth much class and school spirit. In the preliminaries the Juniors eliminated the Freshmen by the score of 14 to 11, and the Seniors defeated the Sophomores by a score of 30 to 2. In the finals the Freshmen won third place by defeating the Sophomores 20 to 9, and the Juniors defeated the Seniors 15 to 16 in a hard fought game, thus winning the coveted championship. 'Both the sub-district and district tournaments were held in our gymnasium. In the sub-district tournament Braham. Chisago City, North Branch, and Taylors Falls were the teams contesting. The tournament was clean and hard fought through-out, Chisago City finally being re- turned the winner by defeating North Branch in the final game, by a score of 27 to 14. In the district tournament Chisago City, Bloomington, Ogilvie. and Willow River were the competing teams. This tournament was also won by Chisago City, when they defeated Bloomington by the score of 12 to 11. A week later Chisago City proved themselves to be a real team when they won the state championship at a tournament conducted at Hamline University. The fact that a team from our sub-district won the state championship speaks well for athletics in our High School and should be an encouragement in the future. , 11014 1110101111 1 1 1

The result is that we collected most of the old jokes we could find for we wanted to be sure that they would all be jokes. This is supposed to be the funny part but the funny part of it is, it isn't so funny after all. Dcn't blame us, blame the one who wrote them first. THE PEA SOUP VARIETY Deckhand Drowns in Log Despite Hero's Efforts NOTHING DOING The Domestic Science teacher had found her class of girls reluctant in their writing of Cooking compositions. At last she conceived a great idea to stimulate their interest - to write an account of a dinner. It seemed that she was successful. With one exception, the girls threw themselves at the task and envolved youthful masterpieces. The backward one chewed reluctantly at her pen and was then struck by a burst of genius.
