ln the year ot l942, on a sunny September morning, the time candles began burning for three different groups of frightened children who began their school life at Holt, Mangum and Rougemont As the time candle burned on, these groups were ioined at Mangum in the year l948. Our teachers who helped us along our way in the seventh and eighth grades were: Mrs. Crabtree, Mrs. Gaskins, and Mrs. l-lill. During these two years we lost Carl Roberts, Ralph Ellis, Alma Sharon, leon Johnson, Ruben Brann, Floyd Wilkins, l. W. Carden, Paul larry, Joyce Pittman, Frank Worsham, Bobby Ellis, and Earl Ramsey. These little time candles now had burned out and THE MARCH a larger one began burning for us. During our Freshman year our homeroom teacher was Miss Umstead, who helped us get adiusted to high school life. Mr. Bass was our principal. Two bands had burned out and we were in our Sophomore year. During this year we had many parties and wiener roasts. Mrs. Chestnut was our homeroom teacher and Mr. Anderson was our princi- pal. As the time candles grew dimmer, we found our- selves as iolly Juniors. Time did not stand still lor us in this year because we found ourselves in a whirl of . I---mm, 4
