The NUGGET PROPHECY OF THE CLASS OF '39 Well, you can imagine my surprise when my husband came into the house one morning and said we were soon to be on our way to the 1940 World's Fair. Oh, that was a wonderful day to me. Our belongings were soon collected and packed into our trailer and we climbed into our '56 roadster. On our way at last! We rode for nearly a hundred miles when the left back tire gzrve out and imagine my surprise when a mechanic came to our aid. lt was none other than Fred Sorrell. Of all people! You never would have known him in those greasy overalls. We had just recovered from that shock when at a little wayside restaurant we were set back again as Annie Durham, one-time class beauty, came to wait on us. We chatted a few minutes, only to had Bob Timberlake was her helper and then we were off. We reached New York without any more shocks but guess what met our eyes as we stopped for a policeman's signal? As he stood and breathed it was none other than Arlia Carden, a big-city policeman. We continued on our way only to see a great neon sign blinking with bright red lights, iiA'fTCJRNEX' FRANK FoREMAN. We decided to surprise him by dropping in on him but were fooled again. As we entered his elaborate office his secretary CWell, well, well,-Gladys Lunsford! We remained long enough to regain our strength and then we headed straight for the World's Fair. We arrived early in the afternoon and purchased our ticket and started into the gates. There stood our ole pal, Clifford Holloway, our one-time bus driver. I was sure he would become a professional at such a good start. After such a good start l knew we would enjoy our visit. We started the tours of the shows. We came upon a show of beauties dancing in very abbreviated hula skirts and before my unbelieving eyes there stood three of my old school chums-Sallie Gar- rard, Mary Ellen Watson and Iulia Neal. I thought my time was over but my heart continued to beat. We continued down the midway until we came to an interesting-looking show. We entered the show and believe it or not there sat Frances Berry. the one and only snake charmer. Before we left Frances had that pretty little snake wrapped about her Hnger! I Next to the snake charmer was none other than that man of beauty and strength, A. M. Addison, showing everyone how to become 'Kmuscle boundf, We continued on our way and we were confronted by the show caller,', Carlisle Raine. No one would have guessed that he would end up in such a way after such a grand start as a book of knowledgewl We listened for a few minutes and could hardly believe our ears as he announced The Rages of Paris -the greatest fan fCo111im1m' on Page TlL'f'!1fj fTl'l'l PAGE THIRTEEN
