The results of the girls' team was quite another story. The girls won six of the nine scheduled games and two of the three games they played in the County Tournament at Steele. They were defeated for first place by the Hard to Beat” Holland team by the score of 3 to 0. BASKETBALL The girls' 1950-1951 basketball squad haven't been so lucky this season. They won two and tied two of the regular scheduled games. At the first of the year they defeated the Alumni team 15 to 17. They entered four tournaments this year. Sorry as we may be, we are still going to lose seven of the girls on the squad this year due to graduation. They are Alma Tilmon, Earline Tilraon, Berdyne Henry, Reba Watkins, Eleanor Bell, and our Co-Captains, Patsy Reeves and Fhances Blaylock. Braggy's ”Scrappy Five” have done quite well this season. They have won ten of the eighteen games. They've played well, and brought home a second place trophy of which they (and we) are very proud. This was won in the Kennett Invitational Tournament. In the Kennett Invitational Tournament we defeated Deering and Hornersville. This entered us in the finals where we were defeated for first place by the Kennett Indians. In the County Tournament, Hayti defeated us in the first game. Braggy High will lose five of the boys this year— four Seniors; Charles Watkins, Frank Marshall, Quinton King, and Corden Crowep Captain; Norris Blaylock, a Junior, has recently moved to Bernle. The Jr. High Team has won three and lost three games this season. They also brought home a Consolation trophy from the Cooter Tournament when they defeated Bragg City by one point. We are very proud of these boys and see signs of great possibilities for the coming years. Now, I would like to mention our coach. Bill Adams. This is his first year but no one would Judge so by the good work he had done for us this year. He has been patient and understanding and has given everyone an equal chance to show what he is capable of doing. We have all enjoyed working with him and look forward with pleasure to next year. They have the honor of saying that they made the most money and therefore tneir candidate, Nona Bea Dudley, was crowned Carnival Quean of 1950 by her escort, Charles Watkins. As has been customary the retiring queen usually crowns the new queen; but since she was out of school, Nona Bea's escort, Charles Watkins crowned the new queen. This was a very gala affair. The Queen's bouquet was white mums with blue carnations tied with white satin ribbon streamers. The crown was silver Jeweled while the queen was attired in a light blue formal. Needless to say, the other candidates were dressed in formals with corsages of white mums. This was a pretty sight for the formals were of different colors. The concessions were .as follows: Seniors—bingo, and had as prise for votes for queen, a set of electric table lamps;;Juniors--coke and hot dog stand, and their give away gift was an electric mixer; Sbphoapres____ cake walk, apple cider, and donuts. For lucky chance holder, an electric steam iron was their project. Freshmen—fish pond, and fortune telling. Their attraction for money making was a damp bag containing cannon towels and wash cloths; Eighth Grade—the country store. Their attraction for extra votes was an electric perculator. Seventh Grade—pop corn stand. A portable radio was their booty for the one who held the lucky number. ihe biggest event of the evening was the coronation of the queen. The candidates and attendants were from left to right: Peggy Huffman, Fay Marshall, Shirley White, Jo Ann Riggs, Jeanette Teeter, Charles Watkins Shirley Bruton, James Riggs, Harold Watkins, Bob Bryant, and Jerry Wayne Riggs. The crown bearer was Dotty Lou Long and the 1950-51 queen, Nona Bea Dudley, the senior candidate. The classes cleared $680.4$.
