During his high school years, he lettered in football, basketball, baseball, and track. After graduation, he attended Montana State College and Eastern Montana College. After one year, he entered the army and was stat- ioned in Germany for two years as a paratrooper and company clerk. Upon his discharge, he enrolled at M.S.U. and completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Earth Science. After completing his B.S. degree in 1970, he went on to finish his Masters with a major in Earth Science and a minor in Elementary Education. Needless to say Mr. Hebnes found that educa- tion was what he enjoyed most. Since graduation, he has returned to school and obtained his Super- intendent and elementary endorsements. His past experiences in teaching include five years in Peerless, Mt.,where he taught the fifth and sixth grades. Mr. Hebnes has real- ly enjoyed the students of the Brady Public School. Even though com- ing from different back- grounds, he said the stu- dents don't seem to let that interfere with their relationships. They are quick to accept newcomers and to try to make every- one feel at home. He feels that Brady has been a pleasant place to live and a good place to raise a family. His entire family have enjoyed their years here. With the thought of leaving high school going through our heads, I am sure that there are mixed emotions for us, the graduating seniors, as well as for you, the parents, friends, and faculty. We are sad at the thought of leaving our friends, family, and the teachers, and the ad- ministration whom we have con- fided and who have helped us; and at the same time we are excited about being on our own, meeting new friends, and possibly starting our own fam- ilies; yet, at the same time, we are scared_Where are we going to go? What are we going to do? We would like to thank you friends, family, and faculty for the help you have given us these past four years. 10 Top Row- Left to Right-Leah Aakre, Harry Bolinger, Barb Coffman. 2nd Row-Butch Gaines, Heidi Gollehon (Sec. The Wednesday preceding the game brought Bulldog fans together to enjoy a bonfire. During the bonfire, speeches were given by Coach Tranmer and Co-Cap- tains Barry Malone and James Klein- sasser. James and Barry also threw the traditional dummy into the fire. Another event that took place at the bonfire was the crowning of the King Queen. Last year's Queen, Angel Zimmerman, crowned Sue Thompson, and last year's King, Barry Malone crowned James Klein- sasser as this year's royalty. The class candidates were—Seniors-Karen Diedrich Tom Pearson, Juniors-Sue Thompson James Klein- sasser, Sophmores-Wyetta Bolinger Rob Burdick, and Freshmen-Tracy Ougan Travis Bolinger. The week preceding the victorious football game showed the students of Brady High supporting their team with high spirits during Spirit Days. The following comments are from the coaches on the 1986 track seasons Working with the two coaches (Miss Kimmet and Mr. Bakken), and the two track teams (the junior high and the high school) this year, gave me quite a lot of personal satisfaction and pleasure. Even tho- ugh the workouts were tough and sometimes lenghthy, all involved seemed to be in a happy state of accomplishment, which was encour- aging to me, especially, and—I feel—to all others who gave their best in practices and at meets. R.V. Giulio The 1986 track season was a successful year in the fact that there were more kids out and they worked harder than ever. Although we only had two people, Wyetta Bolinger and Heidi Kleinsasser, ad- vancing on to divisional and state, the others worked hard and im- proved throughout the season to get their best times and distances at District. The kids were fun to work with and I hope to see Brady's track team improve in the next few years. Miss Kimmet Top row: Iracy Dugan takes off for the triple jump. Students Active in Edu- cation is an organization which promotes, develops, and trains students in the ideals of education. Working toward the accom- plishments of two specific goals in particular, SAE members 1) learn the methods processes of the teaching enviroment 2) assist the teacher in various classroom activities by working with both the individual student and with groups of them. As each SAE member sees what is involved in the teaching profession, he or she can bet- ter ascertain his future in education. 35 LIBRARY CLUB Left, Left to Right: Mrs. Malone, advisor; Barry Malone, Angel Zimmerman, Carol Preitauer, and Barb Coffman. Seniors Honored 44 Christmas at B H S On the day before Christmas vacation the students of Brady High School engaged in several activities. To start out the day, Mr. Bakken and Mr. Myers lead some of the students in Christmas carols. After lunch 5 teams met for the annual volleyball tournament which the teachers dominated once again (boo-hiss!!). Following the tournament, we all gathered in the lunch room while Mr. Morris passed out our presents. 45 On 3 days this year students from fourth grade on up arrived at the school by 6:30 a.m. for the long bus trip to Show- ON THE SLOPES down. After arriving at the lodge, the students get their equip- ment 4 meet at the ski school for a two hour lesson where they are divided according to ability. Following lessons, lunch is quickly gulped down in order to get back to the slopes for four more hours of racing , crashing which everyone is a participant. The ski slopes close at A:00 p.m. , just in time for supper, so everyone enjoys a well-bal- anced meal at McDonalds. 46 College Bound During the month of April six high school students visited three different colleges for high school week . Students visit colleges to see what the colleges look like and they get a chance to see how life is on campus. Another benefit to visiting the colleges is that students learn more about what's available to them as jobs and what the college offers. Top left: Angel Zimmerman and Heidi Kleinsasser visited Eastern Montana College in Billings on April 15 and 16. They were taken on a tour of the college and they also were allowed to sit in on some classes. They were also allowed to stay in the dorms and get a taste of dormitory life. Teen II was the first musical put on by the high school in many years. The play was dir- ected by Tom Myers. The musi- cal was about the pressure in- volved in going to a new school and trying to make new friends. The students did a great job. On April 19, Brady held the first prom in 6 years. The students spent a lot of hours de- corating the gym for the special night. The band Courrier provided the music for both couples spectators. Barry Malone Carol Preitauer were crowned king queen which entitled them to lead the group around the gym in the Grand March.
