1968 Bulldog Brady High School Brady, Montana Editor - Bob Banka Ass't Editor - Mary Fagan Business Manager - Rob Pinion Advisor - Miss Theodora Weis 2 Table of Contents Emotions Dedication Administration Seniors Underclassmen Organizations Sports Activities Grade School Advertisements Foreword These are the happiest days of your life - enjoy them. These are words we hear many times during our high, school years. Certainly, these were the happiest days of our lives and we did enjoy them. But happy living is not all gaiety. As the clouds make the sunshine brighter, tears, anxiety, fear and countless other emotions are the essence of happy living. At BHS we see this drama and emotion portrayed in a thousand ways each hour, each mo- ment, each year. We see both joy and despair in the faces of our students at report card time. The excitement at our games, the spirit at our pep assemblies, the tension of our elections, and the anticipation and joy as we choose our royalty are moments we all shared between August and May. It is on these moments we have based the 68 BULLDOG . 3 4 Defeated... When the game is lost. 5 We Are Perplexed... Puzzled... As Mr. Dyer and Mr. Morris question the play. Mascot, Lorran Burdick, seems to be bewildered by the game. 6 Entertained... By the cheerleaders at our sit-in Pep Rally. Just Plain Goofy... Senior girls, like Connie P., Linda H. , and Debbie J. , see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil. Excited... On the Pep Bus after a victory. 7 Because of his loyal service as a teacher, coach, and friend to Brady High School and the Brady Community, we, the graduates of 1968, wish to dedicate our annual to Harold Tokerud. (Below) Mr. Tokerud contributes to the academic side of school by teaching Math, Science, and History. Coach Toke is watching his trophy winning football team. Mr. Tokerud is proud of his family of six. They are (seated left to right) Eric, Shelly, Leif, Vicki, Sandra, (standing) Harold, wife, Donna Rae, baby, Sonya. 9 Our Superintendent's Message Superintendent TO THE CLASS OF '68: Education has been defined as growth and change. This growth may take many forms or directions. In our efforts to pass on to each succeeding gen- Calvin eration the vast accumulation of knowledge gained by previous eras, let us not neglect to nurture those Richwine traits and personal characteristics that will enable us to live in harmony with our fellow men. This, too, is education. We Are Understanding... Miss Weis gives counseling to another wayward BHS student. Devoted... Exasperated... Miss Gecho reads to her students in the second grade. Mrs. l.-eys struggles to teach the Sen iors their needed history. Some are sad we are leaving Brady High School; others are eagerly awaiting the world outside. Whatever the case, each of us knows in his own mind that we are pre- pared for the challenges that are about to confront us. Do we as students really appreciate what opportunities you have presented to usI 9 I think we do appreciate them, but we sometimes take it too much for granted. What opportunities would we, as students, have in a slum district or a ghetto? They would be meager compared to what Brady High School has offered us. We are indeed fortu- nate. A farewell is just another way of saying goodbye, but this isn t the end, it s only the beginning. The class of 68' owes a great deal to our parents, the faculty and everyone who has helped us with our 12 years of education. We thank you all, and farewell. The roll call was Lyle Coghill, Mary Fagan, Linda Hofland, Debbie Jermunson, Shirley Jermunson, Judy Johnson, Andy Nowlen, Lee Otness, Gary Wiest, Burleigh Wikstrom, and Rita Zimbelman. As learning progressed, the class lost only one of the orig- inal students before eighth grade graduation: Andy Nowlen. Harold Emerson, Rich Ratigan, and Robin Lear joined our ranks but moved before graduation. Bob Banka, Don Golle- hon, Ron Gollehon, and John Kaun joined the group from the East Community and Bob Urton from Great Falls, to form a class of fifteen for the grade graduation. In the fall of 1964, twenty-four frightened freshmen a- gain entered the doorstep, only this time it was to Brady High School. The eight new students from East Community were Dave Sawyer, Rich Miller, John Anderson, Twila Bish- op, Don Hamma, Kathy Hastings, Milt Hjermstad, and Con- nie Petersen. Rob Pinion came to us from Great Falls. These twenty-four lowly students received the revenge of the Sophomore class in a wild game called, Freshmen Initia- tion. ” Our Sophomore year saw no new members. The class found initiating to be much more enjoyable than initiated. In our Junior year, Don Waidelich joined us from Wiscon- sin. Our mothers did a good job of preparing the Junior- Senior Banquet. Our main highlight of the year was the pre- sentation of the beautiful prom, Athenian Gardens. In the fall of 1968, twenty-five Seniors looked forward to the graduation date of May 23. Our Senior Trip was im- mensely enjoyed at the Lake Blaine Resort on the beautiful Blaine Lake. We thoroughly enjoyed our commencement speaker, William Johnstone, Vice-president of administra- tion, from Montana State University at Bozeman. 24 '68' Class Will Gator r3’ Pete We, the Senior class of nineteen hundred and sixty-eight of Brady High School, be- ing of sound, able, (happy and sober) minds, declare this to be our last will and testa- ment as we depart from this world known to us into one of the unknown.
