It passes before us and then from view with each stroke of the clock. The Bulldog has tried to preserve the illusion that is time. In this, the Centennial year for Montana, we have tried to compare the old and the new Montana, the old and new way of life. We feel the time is very appropriate. At the same time, we have tried to preserve the record of four years of Brady High School as we have lived and seen it. We are very grateful to those people who lent us the pictures of the old Montana, and so allowed us to give reality to the illusion of Montana as it surely was. DEDICATION In commemoration of Montana's statehood granted seventy-five years ago and in ap- preciation of the fine community and school that has been established through their efforts, we the Senior Class of 1964, dedicate this annual to the early pioneers of the Brady community. Through their many hardships, triumphs, and sacrifices, the early pioneers have helped to make Montana the great state it is today. Horses were very important in the days of the pioneers, as they were the motive force that kept carriages running and plows breaking land. The Administration is the force that keeps Brady High School running and breaking new ground in the field of education. ADMINISTRATION SUPERINTENDENT’S ■ MESSAGE TO THE CLASS OF 1964: King Solomon said in the book of Proverbs: Happy is the man who finds wisdom and gains understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof is better than fine gold. Education is the summit of the develop- ment of a diligent mind. A real student knows the lasting benefits of a cultivated mind. Scholarship must not stop at graduation, for education ends only with life itself. It is the key which opens the door to countless beautfiul and valuable experiences en- riching your own life and the lives of others. Learning furnishes the lamp by which we read the past, and light which illumines the future. Where there is no learning, the people perish. May you continue to advance in your studies, and possess throughout life the gift of learning and the golden treasure of knowledge. Sincerely, David Curtis 4 SCHOOL BOARD DAVID G. SENIORS PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Parents, Teachers, and Friends, Graduation is traditionally a time for reminiscing and expressing one's gratitude. But, that is not what I want to do. My reason for not telling what our school years have meant to us is not to detract from their importance, but because I feel that we each have our own memories and we each should express them ourselves. My reason for not expressing our gratitude is not because we do not owe a tremendous debt to all who have helped us along the way, but because I feel our actions speak louder than words. We can best express our appreciation by living in such a way that we will make those who have helped us proud of the part they played in our success. I want to take the opportunity to offer a challenge to all who haven't graduated. I challenge you to better everything we have done. When we were Sophomores, we read a story that said that nothing has been done that can't be improved. There isn't a record set that can't and won't be broken. There isn't a book written or a formula derived that can't be expanded, explained, or disproven. I challenge you undergraduates to break the records and expand the knowledge. It may seem that I am telling you to show disrespect for your elders, but I am not. Why shouldn't you know more than your ancestors? You have all their knowledge from which to learn. For this reason I offer you another challenge, learn as much as possible from everyone you meet. To those who have already graduated I want to say, don't give up the fight. It's not too late for us. We just got in the game to don't ask to be pulled yet. That isn't the final whistle you hear. It's just to announce that new players are on the team. What can we do to make the world a better place in which to live? Let's try lighting a few candles and see if the world really if brighter. Of these, eight had attended the eighth grade together at Brady. They were Sherry Stinson, Hazel Britton, David Wesley, Mike Otness, Dennis Petersen, Dianne Petersen, Kay Fagan, and Judy Hodgson. Carl Kaun, Butch Goodrich, Kenny Boggs, Dennis Muck, and Joe McLean came from the Knees area, and June Fladstol and Roberta Morhardt came from the Faris School. Terry Sloan and Roy Fladstol also entered with us. The main event of the year, initiation, was endured but not enjoyed. Our Sophomore year, Joe Wells, a transfer from Portland, Oregon, joined us. We enjoyed initiation this year, as we became its sponsors. Our Junior year saw Lavada Mannen and Marge Hager transfer from Conrad. Barry Barrington also joined us. Terry Sloan and Barry Barrington left us in the middle of the year, the first to join the service and the latter to go to work as a mechanic. Dennis Muck transferred to Shelby. Joe Wells and Roy Fladstol had left at the end of our Sophomore year. The Junior mothers and the Juniors honored the Seniors at the Junior-Senior Banquet and a Junior-Senior Prom with the theme Moonlight and Roses. Sixteen looked forward to graduation from Brady High School at the beginning of the 1963- 64 school year. However June Fladstol traded a graduation robe for a wedding gown, and Marge Hager transferred back to Conrad. Of the fourteen left we all looked forward to the day when we would be on our own. We are: Kenny Boggs, Hazel Britton, Kay Fagan, Butch Goodrich, Judy Hodgson, Carl Kaun, Lavada Mannen, Joe McLean, Roberta Morhardt, Mike Otness, Dennis Petersen, Dianne Petersen, Sherry Stinson, and David Wesley. Sunday, May 17, 1964, fourteen seniors left for the Flathead Lake Lodge on Flathead Lake for two days. The seniors spent the time canoeing, swimming, horseback riding, boating, playing tennis, volleyball, and basketball. Chaperones were Mr. Richwine, Mr. Tokerud, and Mr. Morris. David Wesley and Carl Kaun practicing basketball on the tennis court adjoining the lodge. 20 Brady grew and became a bustling town, with two banks and a hotel, five saloons and four churches.
