I THE X959 SPCTUGHT PRESENTED BY ! Kass of The Senior C ' Brady High SchooX Brady, Montana ,fri BRADY PUBLIC SCHOOL 1916 BRADY PUBLIC SCHOOL 1959 FOREWORD Among the years that will long remain in our memories are the years that we have spent in high school. Time, however, like a thief, comes to rob us of some of the little things that happened in the Good Old High School Days. It is then, many years hence, that we may open the slightly yellowed pages of this volume and relive for a few momentsapart of the happiness that was 'High School. DEDICATIC To our mothers and fathers...whose interests have been in the improvement of our lives. . .whose love and encour- agement have been inspirational. . . and whose never-ending sacrifices have made possible our twelve years of school we respectfully dedicate 'The Spotlight' of 1959. Class of 1959 5 ADMINISTRATIC Y AND FACULT - 'v0l SUPERINTENDENTS MESSAGE In all of life's paths we should seek to build a record of worth-while accomplishments. This annual serves as a record of past accomplishments. Today, the world is troubled and the American democracy that we hold so dear is facing a severe test at home and abroad. Many of the values your school has tried to impart have become increasingly more important. As you Seniors take your place in the world, re- member that the most vital component part of democracy is the actions of its citizens. Our country and community will be better if all of us do the things we ought to do and avoid doing the things we ought not do. May your future be so planned and managed that your accomplishments will bring you both honor and satisfaction. Joseph W . JOHN LAASCH GEORGE MUNDY PRESIDENTS MESSAG Parents, Faculty, Classmates, and Friends: Having been honored by my class by being chosen their president, 1 take this occasion to say to you in their behalf, these last few words, Much has been said of our past life at school and I feel that little can be added to the words that have been spoken. There only remain the words that are hardest of all to frame, andl feel myself unable to say any of them at all well. They mean so much, and seem to express so little once put into speech. When we first entered this high school, we were somewhat immature, and had been accustomed to think of ourselves as children, or at most, very young boys and girls. So much has been done for us since we came, and there ls so much else that we have been taught to do for ourselves, that we are leaving the school feeling ourselves finished men and women, ready to take our places among the citizens of the larger world. Our growth has not only been physical, but mental and spiritual as well. All this development we are thankful for to those who have had our instruction in hand. Not only our teachers, but our parents and com- panions. Be sure, dear teachers, that we feel it more deeply than we are able to express. You, too, dear parents, and friends, must feel that same assurance that we realize the large part you have played in making this a possibility, and we are none the less grateful because our words seem so pitlfully few and weak. Classmates, I cannot with any sincerity bid you Good Bye, but will simply say to all of you a cheery and triumphant 'Good Night. Larry Oien Sponsored by M. 8a T. IMPLEMENT, Brady, Montana CLASS HISTORY The year 1954 will always be imprinted in our memory as a historic event, as we were the much abused Freshmen of Brady High. Our class was made up of ten green Freshmen. They were: Norma Fitz- gerald, Carol Freeman, Les Hodgson, Jim Hofland, John Laasch, Doris Mumm, George Mundy, Larry Oien, Marvin Thompson, and Rena Trost. We were sure we would never make it through our initiation into High School but we soon recovered and forged ahead. When we came back to school the next fall our forces were still as strong as ever, it was not until the second semester that we lost a member of our ranks. Carol Freeman left for the big city of Great Falls. A football team, band, and a Junior-Senior Prom was introduced to Brady High School at this time after an absence of several years, During our Junior year we still kept faith with our school and had quite a success with our Junior Prom. Now we are Seniors, dignified and aloof, strong in mind and unity. So we, the members of the class of 1959, go forth to take our places in the world, with the wisdom of four illustrious years in B.H.S. CLASS PROPHECY As I entered the plane at La Guardia Field to begin my trip to the 1969 Doctor's Convention in Rome, I was met by Doris Mumm who is now an air- line hostess for Inter-world Airlines. we chatted during the trip and she told me that she had recently seen John Lassch, Jim Hofland, and George Mundy who are making careers out of the Armed Forces. l told Doris about Marvin Thompson and Les Hodgson who are both farming south of Brady. They are now married and both are raising future grads of Brady High School. Les has three children and Marvin two. we also talked about Larry Oien who is a practicing veterinarian in the Pan- handle of Texas. Upon our planes arrival in Rome, Doris and I checked in at the U.S. Con- sulate and found Norma Fitzgerald there working as a private secretary to our country's ambassador. We three left together and had a happy reunion talking over the good times we had at the old Brady High School. Rena Trost Sponsored by PONDERA DRUG, Conrad CLASS WILL we, the members of the class of 1959, a few of us being of sound mind and the rest of able body, do desire to set down the distribution of our property. We solemnly affirm this to be our last will and testament. To the Faculty we deem it wise to leave our 'Senior Manners. To our inferiors, the Juniors, we give all our surplus credits, of which we have a superabundance, and all of which the class of 1960 will be in sorely need before their last duties will have been performed, we leave them also the privilege of occupying our vacated seats. To our beloved Sophomores we leave the prospect of a bright future, a hazy past, and our place in the chow line. To the Freshmen we leave an ample supply of wisdom. To all who may be interested. John Laasch leaves his mechanical ability to Harold Cyr. Jim Holland bequeaths his raven locks and one shiny boot to Gary Peterson. Les Hodgson bestows his basketball ability to Mike Beatty. Marvin Thompson wills his ability to slide through high school in four years to Howard Kruger and John Driessen. Larry Oien bequeaths his dancing ability to both Ted Mumm and Howard Kruger. George Mundy leaves his height to Doug Schlepp. Rena Trost leaves her ability to get away with mischief to Lyla Dyer, Margo Coghill, and Cheryl Kauk. Norma Fitzgerald bestows her lady-like ways to Sharilyn Bartsch, Doris Mumm bequeaths her ability to bug boys to Dolores Wesley. To Mr. Lashway we bequeath a less dignified Senior class for next year. To Mr. Hendrickson we leave a bass drum head and a slightly bent music stand To Mr. Richwine we will anything we have forgotten to blow up, break, or wear out. To Mrs. Syverson we leave a library full of English books, comics, and chew- ing gum. To Mr. Reese we will a slightly tattered annual staff for next year. To Mr. McCauley we bestow a green basketball team, a formidable football squad, and one spavined miler. We leave an abundant supply of sunflower seeds to Slim. We leave the old high school to the public. To the new school we leave our fondest dreams and hopes. In testimony whereof we hereby set our hands and seal and publish this our last will and testament, in the presence of the witnesses named below, this 18th day of May, in the year of our Lord, one thousand nine hundred and fifty mne.
