The class at that tirne consisted of Dick Anglemyer, Calvin Oien, Lilly Severson, Bonita Hill and Herbert Styren. During our grade school years eight students joined the class. They were as follows: Marian Tempel, Bill Robinson, Fern Anderson, Kenneth Magdall, Oscar Germundson, Duane Lewis, Bill York, and Dennis Christianson. Three of the original class, Lilly, Bonita, and Cal, survived the eight tedious years of grade school to begin high school in the fall of 1947. After completing our grade school education we en- tered high school with a class consisting 'of Cal Oien, Fern Anderson, Bonita Hill, Lilly Severson, Oscar Germundson, Beth Royels, Bill Robinson, Marian Tempel, and Kenneth Magdall. Bill York went to Texasg Duane Lewis moved to Great Fallsg and Dennis Christianson also moved away. Beth Royels entered from Jordan at this time. lt was during our Sophomore year that Herb Rabe joined us from Minneapolis, Minnesota and Marjorie Petersen came from Cut Bank. 'Oscar Germundson withdrew to join the army. Beth Royels moved away after completing the Sophomore year. Our entire Junior year was spent advising and in all ways helping the Seniors. All of the members of the Junior class were cast in the Junior, Senior play, Let Me Out Of Here. We assisted greatly in running the activities of the school. We entered our Senior year with a strange feeling that we had lost something. It wasn't until the beginning of the second semester that we finally realized it was Herb and Bill. They are now both living in Brady. We spent our Senior year doing as little as possible and causing as much trouble as we thought we could get away with, however we hope that through the efforts which we have exerted in the last four years, that we have accomplished something which will make us better citizens in the years to come. 10 Superintendentis' Message Once more the close of another school year: once more another annual! We offer our congratulations to the class of 1951 for this accomplishment. We believe that the high school annuals published in our country during any given year are vital publica- tion. They constitute a good source of information concerning the thoughts and customs of that particular year. It has been interesting to observe your enjoyment when you examined Spotlights published years previously here at Brady. Given a few years and the students of tomorrow will have the same amount of enjoyment you have had in observing the odd hair-dos, strange clothes and the stiff starched collars that your Mothers and Fathers wore when they attended Brady High School several years ago. I believe your present publication will prove a valuable addition to the present collection of Brady High School Spotlights. Morgan J. Sherlock, Supt. 11 Presidentis Farewell Address Parents, faculty, friends and classmates: Last fall my class honored me by electing me president. I have filled this office to the best of my ability. I wish to thank my classmates for their co-operation and loyalty. The last four years of my life are but a steppingstone to the other side--my goal. Yet this steppingstone is essential. It will save time, trouble, and maybe failure. Very often students do not realize what the value of high school is. It is the period in which we learn to stand on our own legs. After this period comes the trying of those legs on the highways of the world. Every student should realize at the beginning the importance of this period and make the most of those four years. Graduation comes all too soon and time wasted will be regretted. AI hope the Brady High School may long continue to serve this community and that its ideals and traditions may long live. With eve ry commencement of any task there must be a leaving off of some other. One can not realize the full value of a thing until it is gone. But when I leave off the tasks of my high school days, I shall commence with a fundamental preparation for the upward climb to my life's goals. www' - emaw IZ Class Will We, the graduating class of 1951, A. D., being of un- equaled mind and sound bodies do hereby bequeath all our well meaning ambitions and our lost credits to the Junior class. To the Sophomores we leave our old but unused library cards. We hope they will make better use of them than we did. To the Freshrnen we leave our best wishes and also the hope that they enjoy their high school days as much as we did. To the soon to be Freshrnen fthere might be a few, we leave our ability to go on skip day and get away with it. To the teachers we leave our thankfulness for helping us over the rough spots of our preceding school years. We leave to our parents the good and the bad memories of our childhood days. Last but not. least we leave to the school board all our debts, hoping that they do not have to float a special bond issue to pay them. Lilly Severson and Bonita Hill leave their ability to start their typing budgets on Wednesday and complete them by Friday to the typing I class. Marjorie Peterson wills her ability in Math to Mary and Loretta. She hopes that they will make good use of it. Cal Oien leaves his ability to skip school to Gordon Bueling and his wolfish ways to Walter Banis. May they never be in as much trouble as he constantly was. Marian Tempel leaves her height to Beverly Matthys. 13 Class Prophecy I was traveling by airplane to my ranch in Beaverhead County after attending my son's graduation from Yale University. It was then that I ran into my old classmate Marian Tempel who was traveling with her husband, president of the air lines on which I was traveling. We started conversing about our old classmates. She said she saw Marjorie Petersen, who is head nurse on the men's floor at the Mayo Clinic. I told her that I had seen Lilly Severson, a Professor of Physics at Yale University. Lilly informed me that Bonita Hill is a featured soloist with the New York Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra now appearing at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. Song Thinking of You Sentimen- tal Me Roses Tennessee Waltz Tennessee Waltz Senior Poem In the year of fourty-seven On a bright September day, A group of jolly Freshmen To Brady found their way. They were tortured by the Sophomores, Made fun of by the rest, But they lived through all this nonsense And strove to do their best. Then when that year had ended And the next one had begun Those who had once been Freshmen Now were Sophomores full of fun. They made friends with all the teachers Through their happy, pleasing ways, And each one will remember His carefree Sophomore days. Third year they were Juniors Working hard and long each day, To overcome each difficulty They were sure to find a way. And now this group are Seniors And before you here we stand, All our hopes and struggles centered In this diploma in our hand. One of the first improvements was made with the purchase of new blackboards for the gymnasiuxn. Next were the changes that were made in the schoolhouse. There was a new furnace installed, new rest rooms built up- stairs, water fountains and fire hose. At this time the lunchroom, typing room and office were remodeled. The lunchroom now has been divided into two units, the kitchen and the dining room. New cupboards, sinks, stoves, wqrk tables and a deep freeze were installed. There have been vast improvements made in the gym during the last two years. There was a different heating system installed, shower rooms built upstairs and new black- out curtains purchased for the gym and also for the visual aids room. Last but not least were the changes made to the school grounds. Sidewalks were built and playground equipment for the grade school children was purchased. Now as we look back on all of these improvements we realize the interest and faith that the members of the commu- nity have in our school and we hope that their confidence in the youth of this community is well founded. 16 r Juniors M.
