.14 jribufe 0 graclky ,A geai Bradley University sets aside a day in October every year to honor its founders and its roots. There is no doubt that Lydia Moss Bradley and those who assisted her in opening the Polytechnic Institute in 1897 would be impressed by its growth into a major comprehensive university. Ever since that first class of seniors graduated in 1901, Bradley students have been walking away with a quality education. This is one reason why outstanding teachers are honored on this day. The Putnam Award for Excellence in Teaching went to Dr. Gerald Elseth, a biology professor. Dr. Robert Baer, a marketing instructor, received the Burlington Northern Foundation Award for Teaching, and the Burlington Northern Foundation Award for Scholarship went to Dr. Harold Rosenberg, a psychology teacher. Dr. Kalman Goldberg, economics professor, received the Illinois Outstanding Professor award from the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. Awards were also given out for excellence in alumni involvement. Top: Dr. John Hitt presented awards to Bradley pro- fessors. Middle: Dr. Harold Rosenberg certainly looks pleased with his award, as well as the rest of Bradley was. Bottom: A musical intermission by the Chorale at Dingledlne. Among the speakers were Karen Rekowski, all-school president, Rex Linder, the Alumni Association president, and Dr. Martin G. Abegg, B.U. president. In honor of these outstanding individuals, student attendance was encouraged by the cancellation of classes that met during the ceremonies. 28!FOUNDER'S DAY
