Bradley Goes Latino ln early November the Latino Student Association sponsored Bradley Goes Latino Week. From November 1 through November 5 the Association worked to increase the average student's awareness of the culture and problems of Latin American. The week began with a spirited 90 min- ute talk by Felipe Luciano on the Black and Latin American minority in the Unit- ed States. He emphasized their participa- tion in television and radio media as a means of acquiring some political recog- nition and stated that the Association's Latino Week was an example of the new Latino pride that is emerging all over the nation. Bradley Goes Latino Week contin- ued with a lecture by Dr. Stephen Bunk- er, assistant professor of sociology at the University of Illinois, on the violation of human rights in Latin America. Dr. Bunk- er talked to students concerning these violations and the role of the United States in Latin America. The Latino Student Association is a group providing activities for the benefit of Latino students and the University as a whole. By sponsoring Latino Week the Association had made a large advance- ment towards fulfilling its role on Brad- ley's campus. Photo by Audrey Pearson Photo by Chris Cantele Photo by Gary Csuk

The week began on October 18, 1982 with a lecture spon- sored by the Activities Council, CWA and the Progressive Student Alliance. The speaker at this lecture was former con- gresswoman, Bella Abzug. Mrs. Abzug talked for almost two hours on the role of women in the government and on current political issues. On the second night of the week a Rape Awareness seminar was held. At this seminar a self defense instructor pre- sented techniques for rape prevention and gave students advice on avoiding rape confrontations. The third night members of CWA participated in a march against visiting President Reagan. A large group of students participated in the march from Bradley's campus to the civic center to express their feelings on the President's policies. Finally, the week was completed on the weekend with the showing of the movie, Tess. The movie was presented by ACBU and CWA and was a strong way to end the week.
