Coached by Gregg Neal, the RAH squad specializes in tumbling and pyramids. In November 1979, the sixteen member squad placed ninth of 206 teams in the I.F.C. National Cheerleaders' Competition. For the first time in 30 years, they clinched the Missouri Valley Conference title, defeating Tulsa 81-74 at home on Saturday, February 16, 1980. After winning a berth in the NCAA games, the Braves lost to Texas A 8a M in the first round of the Midwest Regional Play. But their hard work, courage, and style had gained the respect of students, faculty, and the community for miles around. The Braves' Swim Team enjoyed an undefeated season of ten dual meets.
