Throughout the week black stu- dents sponsored such things as an art display, a black protest play, Afro dancers, and guest speakers such as Muhammad Ali. Anyone who has survived the first few days of school can look back and see nothing but lines. Lines of groggy students meeting early registration appointments, and lines of worried people wait- ing to pull class cards. Lines of impatient people trying to go through activities fair without blowing their first month's allow- ance, and lines of devoted work- ers trying to sign them up for ac- tivities. Lines of textbooks wait- ing to be taken home and opened periodically through the semester, and lines of stu- dents depleting checkbooks to the sound of ringing cash regis- ters. Even sorority and fraternity rush can be recalled as lines of smiling faces, becoming jumbled in the confusion of choosing a favorite house. Finally the lines diminish and the frustration ends as the year moves into full swing once again. alll -'N
