' 26 Clowns, crepe paper and cardboard, bright lights, balloons and booths, Queen Charity and King Hilarity, hammers and staple guns pounding in feverish haste Once again Campus Carnival transforms the unassuming field house into a wonderland to provide fun and funds for the community. Dormitories and Greeksjoin to create thejovial atmosphere where booths ranging from pie-in-the-face to car-smashing delight participants. lt's clowns bursting with laughter, the feeling oftriumph as you win your date a prize, a small child'sjoy of hitting the bullseye. And when the weekend is over and the laughter is hushed, the feeling of accomplishment remains.

Costumes, make-up, script interpretations, last minute details- backstage preparations seldom recognized by the cycle ofspectalors. EWTALE TA DPLATS E LIVE THEATRE Any theatre group faces a unique task. To put on a face so that others may see their own. To act the actions all see every day yet compress them so they are more easily understood. The theatre offers both amusement and stimulation and this year has produced a variety of works ranging from the avant-garde Pigeons to the satirical humor of 'LTartuffe. The exjJre5sz'Ueface ix an essential element ofthe actor, enabling him to communicate with the audience and urge them to empathize with the action rather than mately observe. ,xl . ,.....
