SENIOR CLASS OFFICERS President.................Raymond Chancey Vice-President........................Joyce Wooten Secretary.................Barbara Chancey Treasurer.................Barbara Richards SENIOR CLASS HISTORY In the fall of 1947, our class entered a higher school of learning as insignificant Freshmen, in the eyes of the haughty upperclassmen. But, we did very well for ourselves when we elected Raymond Chancey as class president and Ollie Chase as class beauty. We might add that Nancy Gibson was the only Freshman elected to the Thespian Society. In our Sophomore year we became more and more important to the activities of Bradley, re-electing Raymond Chancey as the leader of our class, and Nancy Gibson and Dale Smith as Editor and Business manager of the TRUMPETER. Our Junior year, Raymond Chancey was elected class president for the third time. We really began to fly high when our one-act play “Submerged” won first place, with Joe Glenn as best actor. Also, the majority of the Bradley Beauties, selected by Harry Conover, were from our class. At the end of the year, R. L. Maples, Betty Davis, and Jack Owenbey were chosen to lead our basketball and football teams for the following year. At last we have attained our goal and are now sophisticated Seniors. We are proud of Raymond Chancey, who was again elected president of our class. Richard Morehead, a newcomer, was chosen president of the student body. During our four happy years at Bradley, we have survived our numerous crushes, American History books, teachers, and “THE THING”—student participation in the chapel programs. We all agree Bradley is a pretty wonderful place and commencement will be one of the saddest moments, for we really hate to leave. JUNIOR CLASS OFFICERS Vice-President........................Bill Bacon Secretary..................Rachael Denman Treasurer.............................Clyde Kyle CLASS HISTORY The first part of our Junior year was filled with the excitement of football games. Our class was well represented on the team. Bill McMahan and “Peach” Bacon were chosen to lead the 1951 edition of the “Bears.” Shirley Underwood was elected the queen’s attendant for the homecoming game. The Junior Class was really proud of the basketball team because, with the exception of three players, the team was composed of Juniors. Teague and With- row were chosen to lead the Bears and Bearettes next year. In March the Junior Class chose its representative to the Student Council for the coming year. They were Clyde Kyle. Bill Bacon, Rod Hargis, David Jones. Tommy Newman, and Dolores Moore. The election of the president for the Student Council was really unique, for there was only one candidate, Dolores Moore, so she was chosen by acclamation. The Junior Class got a glimpse into the Senior year when they chose their class rings. The class officers, Bill Bacon. Clyde Kyle and Rachael Denman had the usual ordeal of selecting the designs and taking care of the business matters. Barbara Caylor and Wayne Hampton were elected editor and business manager of the ’51-’52 Annual. The Juniors elected into the National Honor Society were Clyde Kyle, Bill Bacon, Tommy Newman, Bill Pettit, Mary Jean Harle, Bobby Hawk. Dolores Moore, Margaret Ann Swingle, and Sally Dooley. The class chose Dennis Olson, Bill Wilson, Rachael Denman, and Joe Lay as the officers to lead us through our Senior year. As school closes we look back over the past three years with hopes that our Senior year will be as successful as they have been. The class toasted two foot- ball lettermen, Gilbert Perry and Burke Chase. We were well represented on the B Team, also. The girls’ basketball team claimed Nancy Franks, Katherine Sperlich, Jaynet Hysinger, Patsy Styles, Willa Dean McCallum, with Nancy Brown as as- sistant mahager. Selected by the class were four cheerleaders for next year, of which included Hoyt Ward, Helen Kilpatrick, Doris Sharp, and Jean Cartwright. FRESHMAN CLASS OFFICERS President......................Robert Lee Vice-President............Johnnie Graves Secretary...............Katherine Hughes Treasurer........................Tressley Geren CLASS HISTORY We timid Freshmen, hopeful too, Found school life hard, for we were new, But 340 stuck it through— Endured the upperclassmen’s looks, Took a chance on stolen books, (Never found the dirty crooks). Learned many things we didn’t know, As after an absence you must go To get an excuse from Friend Clabo. Discovered that school hours had an extension, (A fact soon brought to our attention) When we were sent to the Hall of Detention. Elected officers, council members, too, Although it was difficult to do, Because we didn’t know who was who. Wondered how Seniors got out of class, Why teachers would listen to their sass, And at the end of the year, how they managed to pass. Struggled through algebra and foreign words, Pushed up down stairs, battling the herds. (Longed at those times for wings of birds). So, after being treated mean and tough, We all decided we had taken enough. And adjusted ourselves to ways of the rough. Now wiping away the traditional tear.
