It will be available for use at the beginning of the 1955-1956 school year and will accommodate many students. There will be added space for the music department, office space for deans, a health room, several extra classrooms and a cafeteria. The construction engineers are O. L. Martin and Sons. lt is a beautiful addition, and will occupy the same space as the present East Wing. The Board's' chief matter for consideration for the year centered about the numerous details arising in connection with the building-expansion program. PRlNClPAL'S MESSAGE 2:99 BOARD OF EDUCATION District No. 307 ROBERT 0. MIN, Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School President , , Josizmi nommicx. S' A' SMITH' Prmclpal SQCVCUFF' North Street and Center Arenue s.J.ai-:AUPRE w. EVANS XVILLIAM LARKINS LEONARD MARTIN BRADLEY, ILLINOIS JACK WALTERS Again it is graduation time and again members of the Senior Class, for the first time, fully realize the significance of this event to them. It is a time when one looks both forward and backward. It is a time of mixed emotions, of sorrow and of gladness, of satisfaction and of regrets, of an anticipation of the future and an appraisement of the past, a feeling of a iob well done or a feeling of time lost that can never be regained. There is one thing of which we are sure: life will be richer for experiences encountered in the high school program of classes and activities. Other things to value are the habits formed during these years, the knowledge of how to attack problems, and the acquiring of a confidence in one's self that should lead to greater successes in life. Whether your paths lead to higher or specialized training or directly to meeting the problems of life, it is our wish for you that you achieve happiness, success, and contentment in whatever the future holds for you. f i ,ff W l W-'?.Sff,1gx I ISI' fs 5 i ...4a . Music by the Texas Downbeats provided for smooth dancing throughout the evening. The colorful floats in the pre- game parade had helped set the mood for an enjoyable evening of dancing despite our defeat previously on the football field. It was gratifying to see so many alumni back for the festivities. The climax of the evening was the coronation of Home- coming Queen, Lorraine Baldwin, by co-captain of the team Clarence LeDuke. They led members of the team and their partners in the Grand March which followed. The gym was resplendent in autumnal hues. Corn stalks, pumpkins, and colored lights added to the Fall Motif. Lf X ,- FLAG SVVINGERS The Flag Swingers was a new organization formed this year to add more color to the band performances. In their first year, the eight mem- bers performed at many home basketball games. The group was directed by the band director, Mr, James Baker. Everyone seemed to agree that they were a valuable and colorful addition to our Band. The corps of eight members included: Car- olyn Bertrand, Beverly LaRoche, Donna Mulligan, Ruby Cheffer, Pat Walters, Vivian Williams, Pat Wulff, and Dolores Andreina. BATON TWIRLERS The Baton Twirlers, the oldest of our three groups which add so much to the performances of our Band, were selected in competitive try- outs early in the school year. This was the first year, however, in which any of the girls repre- sented our school as Baton Twirlers. All of last year's twirlers graduated with the class of l954. This year's group includecl1 Beverly Warren, Ma- iorette, and Pat Taggart, Peggy King, Thais Swain, and Dokie Arvenetes, as twirlers. COLOR GUARD Another interesting group organized this year as a supplement to the Band was the Color Guard who presented the Colors at all our local foot- ball and basketball games. Their most significant appearance was during their acceptance of a new American flag at a special assembly when the Flag was presented to the school by representa- tives of the Bradley American Legion Auxiliary. The Color Guard consisted of: Terry Petko, Mari- lyn Bass, Elaine Hebert, and Marcia Johnson. 'K 1. ff Xxxlo .V lil Y 2251 ,Ln Q W 1 1 ....,,.:i. , . The Bradley Boilermakers concluded the season with a unique record-a record of no victories and all defeats for our team. Although the Boilermakers came close, they didn't quite have the drive which is necessary to win. The first three games, out of town games, saw us losing to Pontiac 9 to 6, to St. Anne 13 to O, and to Milford 31 to O. ln the Homecoming game which followed, we lost to Gilman 34 to 13. Our next games were away from home and we lost to St. Pats, 20 to 6, to Momence, in a game which saw 8 men injured, 25 to 6. ln the Crete game, we were defeated by a score of 14 to 13. Bradley then came home to finish its dismal season by losing to Central by a score of 13 to 7 and to a strong Joliet Catholic team by a score of 33 to O. The brightest spot in the Bradley team's performance for the season was its passing attack. The Boilermakers passed for a total of 591 yards, as compared to their opponents' 361 yards. It was much different, however, in the ground gained in which Bradley gained 386 yards, as compared to the opponents' 1846 yards. Due to the unfortunate season which the Boilermakers had, they managed to land only one player in the All Wil-Ro-Kee football team. This was co-captain John Pechauer, who secured a spot as a first-string tackle. The frosh-soph team, however, had a more successful season than the varsity. They ended up the season with a record of 3 wins, 2 losses, and 1 tie. With the good team presented by the frosh-soph squad, it looks as if the Boilermakers' prospects for the future are brighter. 5, s!k1l MR. D. B. WILLIAMS Freshman-Sophomore Coach .- MR. W. The next game was one with an old rival, Momence. We came out on the long end of that game with the score 76-47. The Boilermakers then travelled to St. Anne for a very thrilling contes' which we won 53-51. Bradley then iourneyed to Danville for an exciting bal' game. The score was 33-47 in favor of Danville, We then went to Kankakee for a ffzn over St. Pats, 6l-47. Kankakee was the next victor over Bradley, the score being 59-53. Travelling to Central for a league game to establish the winner Wil-Ko-Ke conference, we were defeated 35-42 in a slow game. of the The Holiday tourney was disastrous for Bradley. We lost the first game to Joliet 79-59. Our second game was lost to Taylorville, 64-39. Bradley went to Crete for a heart-breaking loss 50-46. We were hosts to Gilman winning that game 85-7l. ln the inauguration of the Wil-Ko-Ke tournament, the Boilermakers got revenge on the Crete Warriors by the score of 64-45. The second victory was over our Crosstown rival, St. Pats with a 49-42 score. We reached the championship, only to be beaten by arch-rival St. Anne. 42-29. The Bradley Boilermakers were then very much pleased when we scalped the Crete Warriors by a score of 64-5l. We took a H close battle from Calumet City, winning by a score of 59-52. St. Anne came to town and trounced Bradley by the worst score ever turned up against a Bradley team, B2-38. In a return battle with St. Pats, the score stood at 6O-54.
