The 1950-1951 chorus has contributed its part toward the ever-expanding music program in the Bradley schools. During the year, we sponsored exchange programs with schools in the Kankakee Valley Conference. The ensemble, made up of select members of the chorus, performed at many functions during the year, including assembly programs, and the Christmas program, part of which was broadcast over WKAN. Other chorus activities included: Open House, Baccalaureate and Graduation. r May 4, Bradley High School was host to the five hundred fifty members of the choruses of the K.V.C. Chorus Festival. Members of the vocal department of Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School have enjoyed a wide range of activities this past year. BAND One can look at this year's achievement of the Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School Band with glowing pride, for this year saw the first appearance of a fully unifomxed marching band in our school. Through the combined efforts of the entire community, its civic and service organi- zations, more than 32500 was raised for band uniforms and a cedar-lined storage cabinet. Funds for- the uniforms were raised in various ways: the benefit drawing of a television set, donated by the board of educationg a march of dimesg the placement of donation containers in places of business in Bradley and Bourbonnaisg donations by civic-minded members of the community. Activities of the band this year included appearances at all home football and basketball games, the Christmas pageant, assembly pro- grams at member schools of the Kankakee Valley Conference, and participation at Baccalaureate ,and graduation exercises. The band made its first appearance on a basketball floor during this year when it provided form- ations to entertain fans at pre-game ceremonies. Five majorettes provided an added attraction for the band. Donola Castongia, Judy Underwood, Doreen Cochand, Mary Ann Boggs, Joann Brown. This year saw also the formation of a Band Mothers' Club, with Mrs. Edward McFarland, presidentg Mrs. Clarence Rapp, vice-presidentg Mrs. Arthur Burch, secretaryg and Mrs. Glenn Davis, treasurer. Immediately after organization, the club sponsored several activities including bake sales, concession stands, cook-book sales, and other fund-raising activities. The club has as its objective a bigger and better equipped band, and members of the organization give freely of their time towards the achievement of this goal. w Comets R. Armstrong E. Pilcher G. F00 TBA LL Bradley's Boilermakers, with Bill Butkovich back as coach after an absence of two years came up with a fairly good year. The bruising Boilermakers won five, lost two and tied one. After a bad start Clost to Crete 31-6 and tied St. Anne 6-6l the Boilermakers really got going. They clipped a powerful Lockport eleven,25-12,and followed that with a 7-0 triumph at Momence. Central was the next victim of the high-geared Boilermakers and the score was 21-12. Then came Morris, a new team on Bradley's schedule, and Bradley won its homecoming game to make the night a success2O-17. With the season coming slowly to a close, the powerful Boilermakers traveled to Dwight to hand that team a 28-6 setback. But next came St. Pats and they proved to be a stumbling block to a very good year. Our Boilermakers got tripped up to the tune of 12-O. The managers then started packing the football gear away. Coach Bill Butkovich presented letters at an assembly in the gym. Major letter winners were as follows: Seniors: Roy Bressner, Ralph Boggs, Clem Parr, Gerald O'Flaherty Henry Wilkens, Dee Sando and Dick Burkhalter, Co-Captains. Juniors: Leon Marlaire and Ron Dusenbury, Co-Captains for 51-523 Milt Pattengale, Jim McFarland, John Henderson, Wayne Stokes, Ronald Tonsignant, Don Borg, James Topliff, Stan Sadowski, Dale Monty, Sophomores, Dick Pettit, and Glen Martin. Second Row: Mr. Joseph Jepsen, Coach, Jim McFarland, Milton Pattengale, Clem Parr, Dale Monty, Michael McCoy, Manager, First Row: Richard Burkhalter, Ralph Boggs, Ronald Dusenbury, Leon Marlaire, James Topliff, Dee Sando Bradley's Boilermakers started off the 1950-1951 season with a big objective, to repeat the state tourney trip made by the squad last year. Looking forward to this, they started off with a 65-30 victory over Central. Then came six more victories, including a 44-43 win over Kankakee. Crete-Monee turned back our Boilermakers 62-44 for our first loss. Bradley went into the Kankakee Christmas toumey with an impressive 7 won, 1 lost record, and came out with a 9 won, 2 lost record and a third place trophy. With a 16 game winning streak going, Bloom came down and snapped it with 53-42 score, but not before the Bdilemiakers had won the K.V.C. tourney title, though, for the second consecutive year. They also whipped Mooseheart 61-48. This left them with a 24-3 record entering the Regional toumey which saw defeats over Central, St. Anne, and the formidable Kankakee, The Boilermakers earned the right to enter the Sectional. In the first round of competition, they knocked off Thornton, 49-45. In concluding chapter of our tournament hook, we found a somewhat unhappy ending as the Boilermakers went down before the Hinsdale quintet with a one point defeat. 144-43l It was an admirable season, though, with a third place in the holiday tournament, a first in the regional and a second in the sectional--a good record too, 28-4. Seniors: Boggs, Sando, Burkhalter, Parr and Craig extend best wishes to next year's seniors-Marlaire, Dusenbury, McFarland, Monty, and Pattengale. Coach Jepsen The young Boilermakers, coached by Bill Butkovich, had a good year with eleven victories over nine losses. Those who saw heaviest duty were: Lavern Peters, Bob Pasel, Dick Pettit, Bill Sikes, and Glenwood Martin. Other members were:Don Bilyeu, Jack Beaupre, Ken Cannon, Glen Sparks, Darel Larkins, Herbert Marlaire, and Paul Martin. Wayne Coyer was their able manager.
