I instructed him not to forget the Reunion, then bade him farewell and went inside While waiting for a clerk, my eyes drifted to a diploma which was hanging above the counter Fred Beach's name was on it and below were the words, ' egistered Pharmacist As it was a warm day, I decided to have a soda I looked up and there stood Ieonard Martin who was now a soda jerker While waiting for the soda, I noticed a very lovely couple It was Betty and Bob Martin, who came in to get something for their crying twins Talk ing with her, we recalled the great times we had had in school She also a housewife Finishing my soda, I decided to go to the gymnasium As I went outside, I met Stan Leszczewioz who is proprietor of the 'Colony Club ' He has for entertainment, that greet dance team Ludia and Joresco who formerly were known as Frances Burkhalter and Leon Slovikoeki Music is furnished by Francis Amiot and his orchestra The drummer is Donald Johnson and the Trumpet player is Raymond Outsen In High School these boys were trained by Donald Arthur The Blue Singer is Ieota Roush whose voice was discover ed by a talent scout, Harvey Hackley, who is going to take her to Hollywood in a few weeks. After exchanging greetings, we started for our destination When we ar rived at the gym, I noticed two young men standing together and talking very much in earnest It was Red Mulligan and Ray Sanor who are now Brad ley's best Undertakers They told me that Lavern Hahs, who went to college four years, is now a coach at Illinois He is also engaged to be married t0 Juanita Lucas She became a reporter for the 'Bradley Tlmes,' which is now edited by Hal Mccleary, who had taken this paper over when school was finished His assistant editor is Eugene Marquis Standing in a corner I saw Alpha Englehart and Gladys Hacker Alpha is now a great lawyer, and she has won many cases, and made a great name for herself Gladys had studied to be a Nurse and is now working at the Silver Cross Hospital Ah! Who comes here Junior McCue and Shirley Heinze Junior is now manager of a 'Meat Market,' in the city of Kankakee, and Shirley is now an English teacher at Bradley High She has had this position for three years She said that Arlene LaGesse is employed at David Bradley's where she is a secretary and has charge of all the girls in the outer office Leonard Klenzak, who is now Elmer Stump's Chauffeur, sat in a long lim ousine in front of the gym Elmer is a Traveling Salesman, just returned from an extended trip to Europe Of all the group, Albert Iegris was the only one who couldn't make the reunion He was in Washington making a speech to the 'Future Farmers of America ' I was very happy to have been able to make this trip and to see that all my classmates had become so successful As I went back home, I began to remlninence and wished that we were all once again back in dear old Bradley H1611 so U ' f E7 . .H told me of the great success Bob had made in baseball, and of her career as O ssl l' o J F115 IJxJfK One cool September morning in the year 1936 a group of 7b boys and girls gathered on the steps of Bradley High to embark on a four year voyage to distant lands of strange and wondrous sig ts and experlences The captain was to be Mr Hall and chief pllot Miss Ryan First mate was Betty Kassman and the rest of her crew were Fred Beach, Gladys Hacker and Rose SmietanskL The tour included a n1ne months stay ln Freshmen Land None of us had ever been there before but we had heard many reports from others who had traveled there Whlle we sojourned tnere we became acquaint ed with the wonders of Algebra and some became so entangled in lt that they never rejoined our party Others spent a great deal of time in english groves feasting on poetry, verbs and book reports A few entered Latln Peninsula and became lost 1n the fourth congugation and ablative absolute Some were charmed with General Science mountalns, but d1dn't succeed 1D passing the barrler We all enjoyed our stay and roamed in these treasure places until, at the end of this nine months stay, we were given pass ports enabllng us to so on to Sophomore land The next fall a smaller group, 51, embarked for Sophomore land Our pi Martln as asslstants Our band of students landed filled wlth enthusiasm Some hastened to scale geometry heights and found there pleasures of slght and intellect, although a few did not llke the rough going and deserted the group at the flrst opportun1ty Many found keen pleasure ln digging into the historic mounds, and found there the records of the llves of many great men All of the group were forced to take a sail on Engllsh Lake and to take frequent plunges into Oral Bay Some of the more active occasionally trled to sneak across the narrow channel to Freshman land and annoy the natives there but the pilot qulckly quelled these attempts The p1lot always complained that the travelers were more interested in themselves than in the treasures to be found on the island A few liked the island so well that they were granted a permit to rema1n for a second season Our next tour was to Junior continent Our assistants were then Stanley leszczewicz, Leonard Martin Wanda DOmlHlCK and Bob Martin Mr Jones as sisted Miss Money as pilot Various localities were explored on this con tinent such as English heights, bottomless history pits, Shorthand depths, and Typing plains Football and basketball were stressed and a few of the boys were lucky enough to take a short detour to the State Basketball Tour nament Clubs such as Glee Club, Hi Y, and Y D, added to the fun on board After a bit of hard work, we put in port for a short time and entertained the Seniors at a Prom With few exceptlons passports were issued for the next tour to Senior Haven The next September our little group of 30 embarked upon the last year of its tour in the good ship Bradley High Our pilots were Mr Jones and Miss Hendricks Assistants were Stanley Leszczewicz, Betty Kassman, Ray Senor, and Arlene LaGesse On landing at Senlor Haven we were given quite a choice of places to explore New delights met us on every hand Pleasures such as we had never dreamed of were ours A trip to Bradley Tech, Skip day, the Prom and Class Day made the last days fly by All too soon the year passed, and the pilots called us together for the last t1me, telling,us we must hasten on to make room for others, and embark now on the sea of life choosing our own ship which we must sail for ourselves Thus, at last we were left tearfully on the shore watching the ship fade away in the distance, with only our memories and our diplomas to recall the glad days aboard the good old ship Bradley High We were determined to make our mark in life and live up to our motto 'NOT AT THE TOP, BUT CLIM ING 51 I F4 'Af r-X5 I -1 Xxx!!
