First I met with a little, old weazened man whom I once called Har- old Ott now known as Dr. Ott. I developed sea sickness ear- ly and of course the ship doctor was called. Here came none other than Dr. Ott swinging along with his little satchel. I was very glad to see him and asked where his grocery truck WUSQ In India my friend inquired of me if I had visited the famous Madame Shervia. I replied in the negative and so ar- rangements were made for my visit the following day. Cloth- In Poland ed in a long robe with fore me my dear I understood then why had been so anxious to much surprised a turben around her head stood be- Florence Styek alias Madame Shervia. in her last year in High School she have her hair grow long. She was very me. On departing, I told her that I friend to see hoped she was able to see in her crystal ball more for her other visitors ing is a great it from Master than she had been able to see for me. Bluff- profession and I would have gladly expected John Smietanski but not from Florence. I ran upon this famous Smietanski person try- ing to criticise a well known Polish official. I say trying because really criticising is out of his line even if he doesn't think so. He was about to be thrown into prison when I vouched for his im ediate removal from the country so ,Q was released. Then I inquired of him if he hadn't found at he was not a natural born critic and that it would be the death of him yet. I put him upon a ship for America and the last I can of him he was hunting for a comb and mirror, x, I then took a taxi and whom do you suppose was the Sx?Ejq driver? There sat Mr. Paul Toliuszis reciting orations to f himself after having delivered me to the wrong address. I QJX was very angry with him until I recognized him as an old Q 'i ' I friend. He its still trying to become a Daniel Webster but oh! how herd th' task. Beside him on the seat were two s :E loaves of his father's bread which had been sent to him from fQ55s1 America. After telling me of their origin and travels a- gfaakg broad before reaching him, he started with me to the correct f r i address, I was injured and had to be taken to a hospital. gigs e , . Y. .Cnr f It was found thet I needed a minor operation and there gg lv came a little blond nurse very flighty and ninking at me ig hai with every word. I became rather angry with her and asked 'I I if she thought her patient was a man. Then to my embarrass- Kyiv, 5 ment I discovered that this was another of my school mates, Em, M Miss Laura Hasemeyer. She was very much disturbed about 1 hsggri ,.--- ,,,. . ,-..l,f' M ev- ,353-' s -S , 4 .f7Nvffs+MAWaN,fexmsswwfwf-P 1 Qi ' ,ffm something and I was afraid that she would do more harm than good but to my surprise she did rather well omitting the fact that she gave me far too much ether, talked continually of the new taxi station and asked me 500 times to excuse the taxi driver as he was probably worried about an address he gas to give the following day at the dedication of a dog OllSCn From the hospital I went to Scotland where I saw a lit- tle lady teaching lady bugs to dance. I entered the circus tent and to my astonishment there was Ilene McCleary. Poor, dear lady, had wasted her life at this occupation and to be truthful those lady bugs never danced any more than a flea but she had become so used to seeing them move about that she really thought they were dancing. The admission was 10d and was to be paid in pennies as this gave her the im- pression that she had more money. I only had .OQQ but she refused to admit me until I had the correct change and me her very dear friend. In Rome I ran across and was entertained by an old, old class mate Earl Stoltz. He was toddling a small boy upon his knee named Mussolini. After inquiring I learned that he had married Mussolini's daughter and this youngster was their child. I was invited to dinner and the small child showed me a toy automobile modeled after a Speedster Whippet and he told me that when he grew up he intended to speed just like his daddy and grandfather had done before him. As my time was about devoured I was forced to return to America without seeing every place I wished. Upon landing in America I went immediately to the court room as you see ...:x I had been traveling and practicing upon law. My partner was having considerable trouble in obtaining a divorce for some one and wished my help. New whom,do you suppose tEis,3Z, some one was? None other than the famous base ball star of V' the Cubs, Mr. Howard Hoegsted. He was having a difficult bf i time but as I was there I pxogised to do my best and so' Igh did. He received his divorce and I read last reeh where him, 3775 and his wife remarried. ?,f ,W QL, And last of all coins 213' connection with grocery stores. if rffi' The chain stores of the National Tea had their main office K9 iq in Chicago. The officers elected for the year 1950-1931 are: Presi- dent-Vearle Heinis, Vice-President-Wilbur Damler, Secretary LRuby Hahn, and Treasurer-Harold Chartier. The class dues are ten cents a month. The Freshmen have taken part in all the activities and several have shown their efficiency already. Edward Zajc, Jerome Powers, Harold Chartier, Leo Mathews and Lionel Legris received minor B's in basketball, and certain of our class members have a good chance for the B's awarded for scholarship. Let's hope they get it! During the second month of school the Sophomores initi- ated us. we had a good time, although we did receive sever- al shocks from wires connected with a battery. We felt much better, however, after we had some of the good lunch the Sophomores provided. In order to show the Bradley High School we were an ac- tive part of the school, we gave a Halloween party. Almost everyone came masked, and these costumes afforded much fun as they were judged as to which was the funniest, the best dressed, or the most representative of a particular char- acter. Then the Freshmen revealed their talent in a program of vocal and piano solos and reading. Elton Guiss told a Uspookyn ghost story and Ruby Hahn enlightened many by pre- dicting bright futures for them. Nobody's appetite was ru- ined by the ghost stories though,as everybody ate heartily of the good refreshments. April l, the Freshmen gave a play, the nApril Fool Tea chern before the assembly. It was a comical play and every- -5 I 1 - is one had several good laughs from it. IW? T 3 Just watch the Freshmen! Every class must have a beftfgg ginning year, and we have done our best to make this onefd worthyof our dear old Bradley High School. !Eg,fJ 'J 1 .' if fr Elinor Mulligan iii? .j?f?g L- '4 . 119' Y ,.. 17- W -,,SNf..!X . He is one of the best denters that Bradley put out for some time. Playing for two years on the first team enabled him to become well exl perienced, He will be a great loss to the team next year. He has captained the team for the last two years. Paul Toliusris - Forward NPaulicH Paul was one of the most accurate shots on the team and usually garnared a good portion of his teams' points, He outplayed men twice his size and he also plays a fine brand of basketball. He will also graduate with the 1951 class amid the sorrows of the upcoming players. Lawrence Benoche - Forward HP-ug!! Playing with Toliuszis two years, Pug has become a miudcrful success as a scoring power. He is unselfish in passing the ball to his team mates. He will be back with us next year. A Lawrence Power - Guard U . nLarryN proves to be the fastest man on the floor as well as a strong defensive man. He has become a long shot' artist and usually figured in on the scoring of every game.
