Senior Class Prophecy As I was riding on the train between the Bronx and New York City one nice September day in 1970, I was surprised to see the conductor was none other than Laddie Jergens. As Laddie and I chatted he told me that Gaylen Larsen was a captain in the army When I got 1nto New York C1ty I took a taxl to a hotel As I stepped 1nto the taxl notlced the taxx driver was my old classmate Kathleen M1ller She told me she was marrled and had five ch1ldren As I stepped out of the taxl I was knocked over by a rather tall man who turned out to be none other than Byron Naeve Byron and I exchanged a few words as he was 1n a hurry to get to h1s Job at the Ford Motor Company I journeyed on 1nto the hotel and was greeted by the recept1orust who happened to be Susan Chrlstlanson After I checked IH my luggage I decxded to take 1n a mov1e So I went to the largest theatre 1n New York C1ty Later on I found out the theatre was owned and operated by Gerald Sluflett After the movle I dec1ded to have sometfung to eat before I ret1red for the evemng I spotted a n1ce looklng cafe w1th a huge Slgfl that sa1d Come and Eat at Madsen's Cafe I went 1n and sat down I hadn't been there hve mlnutes when the waltress came over to me She could tell by the way I talked that I wasn't from the East So she asked me where I was from and I told her that I was from Bradgate Iowa She then asked me 1f I knew Sharon and Karen Madsen and that they were the one's who owned the cafe I stayed 1n New York C1ty '1 few more days on bus1ness When I got ready to return to Bradgate I went to the airport and purchased my t1cket before chmbmg aboard After I got 1n and was s1tt1ng there very comfortably I was greeted by the hostess who was Vlrglrua Jolhffe V1rg1n1a and I talked for awlule and she told me that the p110t was my classmate Kenny Reese In a few hours I was back 1n Bradgate I was very t1red but enjoyed my tmp very much XFN f ? we , -5: 1 f, gr C If A - H 'e A l gf, 'ries 50 X' K s I 'i'y, Q X -fe 1 I? Senlor Class History The dlscovery of the class of 1958 was an accldent Twelve years ago early one mormng 1n March 1946, the faculty were strolhng zumlessly through the corrldors chatt1ng Suddenly they caught a gl1mpS0 of sometlung new and strange Just 1ns1de the front door huddled together 1n mute embarrassment and anxlety, were the members of whatbecame the class of 1958 To the casual eye they seemed merely a group of ord1nary boys and gurls, well dressed reason ably good looklng, and badly frlghtened The dlscovery havmg been reported to the supermtendent of the school he rece1ved the news that the class cons1sted of nme members Susan Chr1st1anson Loana Foley, Karen Helle V1rg1rua Jolhffe Gaylen Larsen, Sharon Madsen Gayle Kleln, Byron Naeve, and Velma Shaw Mlss Sams was our mstructor the f1rst year Dur1ng the f1rst grade Gayle Kle1n, Velma Shaw and Robert Marsh moved We galned Mark Sweeney and Patr1c1a Taylor makmg a class of lune Mrs Berrler was our teacher Stxll under the gludance of Mrs Berrler we entered second grade galmng two new members Karen Benjamm and R1chard Dav1s We now had a class of eleven members Havmg reached the thlrd grade we galned three new members Sharon Stoddard, Gerald Slufflett and Norman Olson, who left durmg the year Our class now cons1sted of fourteen members and we were under the gludance of two teachers tlus year, Mrs Brandhojl the f1rst semester and Mrs Dnes the second semester We entered fourth grade w1th twelve members Larry Bell1s Jomed us dunng the year We lost Mark Sweeney and Richard Dav1s so now our class cons1sted of Larry Bell1s Karen Benjamm, Susan Chrlstlanson Loana Foley Karen Helle V1rg1rua Jolhffe Gaylen Larsen Sharon Madsen Byron Naeve Gerald Slufflett Sharon Stoddard and Patmcla Taylor Mrs Loluse B1rchm1er was our teacher 1n the hfth grade Our class lost Sharon Stoddard but galned four new members Kenny Reese Dav1d Allard, Kathleen M1l1er and Martln Malm1n We cont1nued to the s1xth grade w1th Betty Schultz as our teacher Robert Chlsm Jomed us now makmg a total of s1xteen members In the seventh grade we galned Ph1ll1p Blunt and lost Patncxa Taylor We now had s1xteen members and our teacher was Evelyn Jensen Robert Clusm left the class when we entered the e1ghth grade We were under the guldance of Elmer Kamprath and graduated from the e1ghth grade w1th an enrollment of flfteen members We were under the gtudance of Supt Bell1s, Mr Coe, Mr Maach, and Mrs Hazelhoff as we en tered our last four years of school Phllhp Blunt left the class maktlng a total of fourteen members Durlng our sophomore year we were under the gmdance of Mr Bell1s Mr Sulllvan, Mr Ennen and Mrs Hazelhoff and Mrs Spooner Karen Helle Dav1d Allard, Larry Bell1s Karen Benjamm and Martm Malmm left the class O I 9 Q , .
