ivan,-5 HUGH B. INGRAM, JR. PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE This was another year of crisis and Khrushevg a year in which young people have again been exposed to evidence that our way of American living can only be perpetuated through judicious evaluation and utilization of those principles and ideals which we share as a direct result of a common experience, the American public school. The battle between the forces of freedom and legions of evil has long been joined, and the battlefield is no longer a remote orchard in Italy or a desert in Africa. The classroom and the laboratory are now vital weapons in the battle for the future of mankind just as the teachers and students are soldiers in the forefront of the struggle. The battle scene may be the early dawn at Cape Canaveral or noonday in a commercial laboratory. The acquisition of each new skill is a patrol action, and unveiling of a new concept is an individual victory. In any successful operation the attacker must maintain a balanced attack, and we must be careful lest our technical and scientific advances outweigh our spiritual and moral gains. If our way of life shall prevail, some generation, perhaps your generation, must unlock the door of emotional and moral maturity with the key of your energy and devotion. Page Four
