A-SQUAD BASKETBALL The Tornado basketball squad under the tutelage of Coach ,lim Hobbs compiled a record of 15 wins and 8 losses including all tournament games. This year's squad was a fast-breaking, high-scoring unit that averaged 69.3 points per game. One of the highlights of the successful season was a spine- tingling 57-56 victory over the strong Bishop Kenny quint of Jacksonville. The Tornadoes were run- ners-up to P. K. Yonge in the Keystone Conference Tournament and made a determined bid to go to the state tournament but lost a 63-62 thriller to Palatka in the semi-final round of the District Tournament. Dribble Low Coach Nina Andrews, Bradford Courtmasters provided thrills and chills in many games de- cided in the last second, leaving the Tornado rooters uncoiling from their seats in excitement. The girls had an 3-7 record this season and were fourth in the conference which consists of Palatka, Lake City, Green Cove Springs, Ocala, and St. Augustine. The team scored 564 points during the season, with Helen Kelly accounting for 252 of them, Helen had an average of 20 points per game. This spirited and aggressive team,-which had only 6 lettermen, started out the season with five consecutive wins before a loss.
