Uur Team Under the guidance of Head Coach Len- nard Register and Assistant Coaches David Hurse and Jim Temple, the Tornadoes of 1958 had a very successful campaign. They won seven and lost two during the regular season during which they captured the Key- stone Conference Championship for the sec- ond straight year. Then the Tornadoes met Terry Parker in the post-season Strawberry Bowl Game and were tied 14-14 by a second- half Terry Parker rally. The season started with consecutive wins over Macclenny 14-6, Bolles 13-7 and P. K. Yonge 20-7. The powerful Palatka Maroons administered the first setback to the Tornadoes, winning 18-6 on their home field. Bradford followed with a 13-6 decision over Perry before bowing to Columbia High of Lake City 13-6. The Home- coming Game was against Fernandina Beach and Bradford once again hit the victory trail with a rousing 27-7 win. Next the Tornadoes traveled to Sante Fe for a game that would decide the Keystone Conference Champion- ship. The undefeated but once-tied Rebels of Sante Fe loomed as a formidable opponent but the flashy Tornadoes, playing like the champions they were, humbled them 25-13. The regular season was closed with a 19-7 win over Clay County. Hats off to the coach- ing staff and the team members for a job well done. POST SEASON-Bradford and Terry Parker of Jacksonville were invited to play in the Annual Strawberry Bowl Charity Game. The Tornadoes rolled to a 14-0 halftime mar- gin but Terry Parker staged a thrilling second-half comeback to tie B.H.S. 14-14.
