First was the election of officers: Terry Reeser, President: Ron Shafer, Vice-President; Julie Smith, Secretary; and Pat Scalf, Treasurer. We enjoyed having Miss Pitsenbarger and Mr. Weimer as our advisors. The class participated in a trip to the Ohio Caverns, a Christmas party, and making a float, known as Queen of 62 , for the Pumpkin Show in October. Fifty students were enrolled. Entering the Sophomore year with an enrollment of fifty-four, we became more and more ambitious as to seeking for the graduation day. The officers for the year were as follows: Ron Shafer, President; Gary Coon, Vice-President; Doris Frantz, Secretary; and Lynne Weider, Treasurer. Thanks to Mr. Henn and Mr. Lyons as being our class advisors. During theyearour first project was the Pumpkin Show float and stand. The title of the float was Opportunities of America . The Christmas party came next in December. The best project of all was the SOPHOMORE CARNIVAL. We also enjoyed having record hops too. Continuing through the years, our Junior year came fast. We selected our officers: Ron Shafer, President; Terry Reeser, Vice-President; Jim Kniesly, Secretary; and Julie Smith, Treasurer. We really appreciated having Mrs. Rose and Mr. Hile as our advisors. Our Pumpkin Show float was given the name, Let’s Take a Trip . The two most wonder- ful events which took place was the Junior-Senior Reception, Sayonara meaning farewell, or goodbye, and a class play No More Homework , which didn't take of any effect in school. During the year we had a magazine sale, a stand at the Pumpkin Show, a few record hops, one with Stan Scott and his Cutouts , a couple of markets, and a picnic at the Stillwater Beach. Also a few of the pupils were assistants on the '61 yearbook. We enjoyed it. Forty-one students participated during the year. Leaving the pleasing years behind, our dreaming year finally came. THE SENIOR YEAR. Thinking of the kids who would do our class a fine job in office we chose them to be: Jim Kniesly, President; Sandy Palsgrove, Vice-President; Polly Pour, Secretary; and Julie Smith, Treasurer. We wish Mr. Mercer and Mrs. Rose, our advisors, a special thanks for such a wonderful job. Our Homecoming was our first hard task. Then came our class play called Ghost Wanted . With a count of thirty-seven students in the class, most of our activities were exciting and fun throughout the year. We still look forward for that time of our Graduation Night . We, the Senior Class of 62, would like to express a special thanks to everyone who helped us through these pleasant years and hope everyone appreciates the contributions we tried to make through our years. In the future we shall keep in mind our high school motto. CLIMB THO THE PATH BE RUGGED . CLASS PROPHECY Being weary of the toil and nervous strain of semester exams and wishing to find a secluded place where I might have both rest and peace of mind I strolled slowly down a road until I came to a shady spot by a small stream. Here I found what I thought to be the land of perfect rest. I found a soft mossy spot and sat down so that I might contemplate the future of the graduating seniors as they entered the actual duties of life for which their high school course had prepared them. While thus in perfect repose I heard a rustling noise and suddenly there appeared before me a phantom from which said, I am the Spirit of Prophecy, the Angel of things that are yet to come.” With her magic wand she rolled back the curtain of time so that I might view all things that are, transformed into things that are yet to be. Immediately I found myself in the land of the future. I boarded a train and found myself a seat next to a tall man whom I recognized as RON MACK. He said that he was going to represent his business firm in New York. When I reached New York I started down Broadway and dropped in to see one of the fine Broadway musicals. On stage I saw POLLY POUR, PATTI SCALF, and JIM KNIESLY really rocking” it up. They were accompanied by MARILYN BRUMBAUGH. I was surprised to find that they had become the top music artists in the country. The next stop I made in New York was at the Yankee Stadium where I saw the Yankees play the Chicago White Sox. KERRY REESER, the sox best player, and a very tempermental one, was thrown out of the game for arguing with the umpire, BILL GRUBB. At the airport I bought a newspaper and the headlines said that TOM FUTRELL had discovered a new element. He had named it Atomic Futrillium. I boarded the plane and the stewardess JULIE SMITH bought my lunch. She said that BILL KIEHL was the pilot and TERRY REESER was the co-pilot. In remembering our old school days, I was a little nervous the rest of the trip. Soon I landed in Philadelphia. At Convention Hall I heard JOYCE CROWELL deliver a splendid lecture on the management of the home. After the lecture I saw a girls wrestling match. One of the girls was ANN MOORE, the other one was such a mess I didn't recognize her. From Philadelphia I journeyed to the Nation's Capitol, Washington, D. C. There I saw the President JOHN SARGENT, Senator, JIM GLICK and Representative FAYE WAYMIRE. All three had done very well in politics. This was really a change since our senior government class. On my way to Chicago I saw an automobile accident. Dr. RAY BURTON was rendering first aid to the occupants, LARRY SMITH and ROBERT SAMPSON. Fortunately the accident didn’t injure them seriously, the trouble was the doctor . In Chicago I bought a newspaper and read an article by society editor CAROLYN GERLING. I spent the night in a Kiehl Hotel managed by HAROLD KIEHL. KAREN ROESSER worked as a hat check girl there. Next I found myself standing in a huge wheat field somewhere in Kansas. Soon a large car pulled up and JIM KISSINGER got out and invited me to visit him. I asked him what had become of our scattered senior class. He told me that DIANNA COOK and JILL GEPHART had married two tribal chiefs. Poor RON SHAFER had tried to climb Mount Everest and hadn't been heard of since. The next stop I made on my journey into the land of the future was in Nevada. There I saw MONA REED trying to get a divorce from her fourth husband. Her lawyer, LINDA GANGER, was the only female lawyer in the state of Nevada. From Nevada, I went to Las Vegas where I saw LYNNE WEIDERwina fortune in one of the gambling casinos there owned by NORMAN FINE. In Pasadena, California I saw the Tournament of Roses and the Rose Bowl Game. DORIS FRANTZ was crowned Queen of Roses by the captain of one of the Rose Bowl teams BOB BASHORE. On the radio I heard GARY COON announce that JEFF INGLE had broken the world twisting record. He had twisted for one hundred hours without even slowing down. Next I found myself in downtown Bradford. Here at home I found SANDY MYERS happily married with twelve children. Working in a downtown department store I saw SANDY PALSGROVE. At the conclusion of my journey into the Land of the Future the Spirit of Prophecy took me back to the shady spot beside the small stream, rolled down her mystic curtain and the future was forever closed to my eyes.
