The name of our town was changed from Littleton to Bradford. Land pre- viously selling at Ghc per acre now worth 81,000 per acre. By September, wells produced 150 barrels daily. 1879-SCHOOLS! First school had two teachers salaried at S35 a month. School term was four months. New elementary school built on the corner of Congress and Elm. Teaching staff increased to twelve. Fifth ward building lot purchased. -First high school organized, cost not to exceed 319503 located on Congress Street. Bradford incorporated into a city with 9,000 population. 1880-PRODUCTION! 4 A 1881 4,000 wells producing 50,000 barrels daily. Producing wells increased to 11,200. -DEVELOPMENT! Chelds 81 Willis 6: Loomis opened a refinery in Kendall Borough. fEast Bradfordl First high school commencement Iune 16, 1881. Six graduated. 1883-RAILROADS! Emery Manufacturing Company formed. fNow Kendall Refining Co.j Maximum capacity of 3000 barrels refined per day. 1892-GROWTH! East Bradford incorporated with Bradford.
