C. on iiref Our Annals Reporter is right on the job, notebook in hand, calmly -iotting down her observations. She bucks against the tide of sleepy-eyed girls marching down the halls, clad in coats, boots, shoes, pajamas, kerchiefs . . . First out is Barba ra Closser. Here comes .loanie Adams, who has grabbed the telephone ollf the wall. There is Bam Allen in her fatigues. Look out all. Here sails Pam Trenor skiing off the fourth-floor roof. She made it. Hurrahl lt seems Betty Ashe is looking for Dr. Gagey, as usual. There is VVoodie with her strong box and snapshots. Patsy Bashore appears with her Biltmore Souvenirs gingerly held under her arm. Danny Kraus is Nancy Beam refused to VVe don't believe i seen with her Tabooz back-scratcher. She says leave her bed. t. lt can't be. Why, there's Peg Bernheisel carry- ing a wastepaper basket. And Nancy Bristol sitting amid the confusion on her desk-chair. Pat Bruce has just come out the door. She's carrying notes. Oh yes, her science notesl Now we can see Barbara Clatf with her tortoise-shell combs light. Shirley Ross yellsg she screams, Order, Order, I forgot my bobbie pins! exclainis Franny Fager. has finally brought Jul clutched in her hands. wondering what to do. reservations. Miss Dav stricted list. And now with her various lotions with her can of orange . That's Sunny Cook swinging Woodie's', flash- Pleezef' Leigh Devers ie's scissors. And next, with her pink parasol, comes Ginny Worthington, who claims she passed Julie Frederick in the basement searching for her mail. Franny MacDonald appears on the scene with her dog tags and ,lane Jessup follows clutching her address book and forty-four bracelets. Midge Hobson had stopped for her roses on the way. And there's joan Law seen through the smoker window. It seems she's found an old acquaintance in the Fire Department. Next in line is Marke Kite with her chiclets, followed by Anzie Tal- mage clutching her champagne bottles. Kempie has just come down from third hanging on to Life. She says that Raines and Schlosser are still up there. Apparently they failed to hear the alarm. And here's another group coming out. Timmie Smith is loaded with Gf1Ihlll1l,S trinkets. And here we see Car Schuster sliding down the banister. She claims it saves time. And who's this walking out of the front door so stealthily? Why, it's Carolyn Smallwood holding on to her all-purpose lipstick, and Nancy Lang is still inside putting her hair up. Most everyone seems to be out, but nol - There's Dottie Keane with her blue and black evening dress and janet Simpson has her transfer applications in hand. And there's Susan Thatcher hanging on to her Stu-G gavel. She is followed by Mimi MacWilliams, Skippy Stronge, Polly Parrott, Nipper Stacy, Patsy Grier, and Billy WVilliamson, who are all dropping stitches as fast as they knit. What is Elena McGrath holding in her hand? Why, it's her pass- portl She just said that Beaven was delayed-even in an emergency one must think of one's figure. Sully seems to be trying to decide which is most important to save, her golf or hockey stick. Now the faculty is appearing on the scene. And here comes Miss Pearson clutching the sugar bowls .... FALSE ALARM! Students and faculty sleepily tile back into the building .... Now the school is dark. Miss Snow must have turned off the lights. All is well, and our Inquiring Reporter, smiling quietly to herself in the darkness of her room, closes her notebook and goes to bed.
