NNALS Trip to Bald Pate 'Twas the fourth of November, when all through the The girls were excited, but kept strict to rule, The Specials were having their stunt in the gym, But we Seniors must study, so only peeked in. By ten we were nestled all snug in our beds, While visions of Bald Pate danced in our heads. On Saturday morn at the sound of the gong, Every girl came with baggage, - it didn't take The party moved off with a word of good cheer From each under class girl whom we hold all so The 'leven-four train was not crowded for space, So each had a seat which she held with much grace, 'When back in the car there arose such a clatter I sprang from my seat to see what was the matter, And what to my wondering eyes should appear But a miniature station - Lo, Bald Pate was near! To the top of the hill and all through the inn, We hurried and scrambled, the best room to win. Some stayed in the Annex, a house down the road, And those rooming there had a noisy abode. long. dear There was singing and fiddling and miraculous tricks, That kept us awake to the late hour of six. The meals of Bald Pate are renowned thro' the east, And each girl did well by her thrice daily feast. After dinner we danced, either Spanish or plain, And were once entertained by a man of great brain lVho cracked some old jokes, so familiar to all, The Ladies' Home fozmzal had printed last fall, On Sunday AJ-I., some walked and some wrote, And some went to Boxford, a place quite remote. That night we were all entertained by Miss Knott, lYho read as we sat round the hearth burning hot. Thus endeth the tale of our days at Bald Pate, lYe wish you like fortune at some future date. 68 school

S I QM Seeing Aulomobiie. Personally Conclucled Tour -l L ...by A N The Megaphone Man. SEEING BR DFORU E are now at the gate of the famous structure for the education of young women, known as Bradford Academy. Proceeding I up the west driveway, we approach the entrance. Issuing from the portals is an object, which, drawing nearer, we observe to be one of the young ladies of the establishment. Although she has on pumps and a straw hat she evidently .thinks that her fur coat is ample protection against the january blasts. lfVhat is her companion clutch- ing, did you say, lady? Only twelve pairs of white kid gloves she is going to have cleaned. And that is not a treatise on ethics she is perus- ing, it is only a list of errands her friends have asked her to do in Haverhill. Entering the building we hear a wild tumult. This is not a Tower of Babel, but only the girls gathered around the mail boxes. What is that row of girls standing meekly beside the stairway? Oh! that is only the Senior class waitingbfor their turn. To the left is the spot to which the girls resort for light refresh- ments. At nine o'clock they come plunging down the stairway, with that lean and hungry look, which is caused by great mental effort, and a large portion of their monthly stipend goes to swell the coffers of the junior Class. A Advancing down the corridor we meet a worried looking woman, jotting down items upon a business-like looking little pad and peering anxiously into every corner, looking vainly for any signs of disorder. She is the house-mother and guides the girls in the paths of virtue and maidenly decorum. Did you ask why she looks at us so inquiringly as we pass? She is trying to ascertain whether our sleeves are below the elbow or not. Q 69
