ANNAL A Propre True Ballade of Junior Mayds CANTO 1 - VVhen as ye plaisaunt Bradford station burst upon my view, I then was but a Freshman, our class it was a few. One daye when wintry winds did blaw, we left our 'customed spotg Far in a sleigh we went away, trewely a jolly lot. Once to a feast we all did gang, and there made we great cheere, And all the deeds we did that night were marvellous to hearg And so did wax and wane away our blithesome Freshman year. CANTO II So then as Sophomores we appeared and wilder grows my lay. The noble Seniors gave a feast, and we the selfsame dayg We went and unto them did singg they sent us not away, But call'd us in and gave us cake and eke also frappe! And wyse and also learned were we in bookes' curious lore, And strove we much until our Class in marks was aye before. :awk :kansas CANTO HI Once more in quainte old Bradford towne a year we did begin, But' jolly juniors now ha! ha! with muckle seeming din. We then did hold out in the gym a valiant stunt partie, Whereat ye ladies laughen so they had been like to die. All on ye plaisannt autumn dayes chased we the hockey ball. But oh, ye valiant Seniors, ye gave our pride a fall. Mid-year exams we did not feare so well learned were weg Our Psych. we knew, our Chaucer too - as this a witnesse be. When as ye june bugs fly about in ye slow-gathering gloome, And all ye maydens fittes have in ye silent library room. Then Juniors give a play, I ween it maketh much plaisanceg The name is ---- 1 we may not tell, lest editors hook a glance. And speaking of ye editors, and of ye Seniors true, We wot that we'll be working hard ere that we equal you! Here is ended ye Juniors' tale and Beginneth the first Canto of the Senior year. 27
