Their feostirigs, revels and duties j?67'f07'WL6'Cl. So after three months had passed it fell that forty-three damsels came to the Academia Bradfordensis to be juniors and to try and gain in honor and loyalty for to be mayhap, when time had passed, Seniors. Anon, in a council they chose their leaders, fair of heart and Visage. Then it came to pass that they held a revel, with mirth and joy, for all the great companie. Then their leader gave them coun- sel that upon a day, which she named, they should pass forth to Bald Pate for entertainment and sustenance, taking, moreover, the Seniors, which by all were honored and beloved. But on the morn set aside by the juniors it befell that Winter, with his blasts and rough winds, caused them 'to sit fast by their Hres. Soon after it came to pass that the juniors made a great feasting and there arose great cheer in their midst. When came the month of flowers and also of hay rides, the Junior damsels went forth from their habitation to the famed re- treat at Bald Pate, taking with them the Seniors, whom they banqueted with joy and merry hearts. ANNALS Vllhen the rest of the year had passed, the Juniors gathered them- selves together and girded them- selves with power and presented to all assembled the comedie trans- cribed by the immortal Shake- speare As You Like lt. So endeth the tale of the juniors. CHAPTER IV Arid here followeth the last chapter of the prowess of the damsels of 1911. I ri which they become farhecl arid beloved by all. ln September, when every lusty heart flourisheth and is com- fortable to behold, they which were called the damsels of 1911, returned to the pursuit of knowl- edge in the bookes of all time. Then it befell on a day ia Harvest time the Seniors gathered themselves together and chose the fair Lady Katharine of the house of Ingram to lead them to fame and glory. She was of all the damsels best worthy to be their valiant and wondrous leader. These noble damsels worked together and gained in unity, love and spirit. Then they prepared a feast of sweetmeats and set it forth in the castle garden and bade the others come and make merry. And all their hearts were glad within them. And when the other damsels had dispersed within the castle, the

AN,NAI-S Q Tlllruz Glbrnnicln nf the Qtrpluits uf tbz Qmiur Eamsels + CHAPTER I First, how the Freshrrtert departed from their homes arid took tip their abode at the stronghold Bradford- ehsis Academia. lt befell in the days of the twentieth century, when the month of September was waxing old, that seven fair damsels, of virtue and piety, made themselves ready to depart from their castles to take up their abode at a stronghold, the name of which is called Bradford- ensis Academia, a wondrous fair castle on the borders of Massa- chusetts. Ere long two damsels fell sick, and the rest of the maidens wept for pity. Then fell the time when the two sick damsels tarried not amongst their classmates, but with- drew to their own courts. And the band of damsels, called the Specials, came to the remaining five and inquired of them saying, Fair maidens, wherefore makest thou this sorrow? And when the reason was learned the Specials made a feast for the Freshmen and bade them welcome in their midst. Thus endeth the tale of the Fresh- men, and here followeth the tale of the Sophomores. CHAPTER ll Of 'how the Sophohiores retitrrted to add new glory to their riarhe arid lineage. Three months had passed when the damsels returned and it was learned that their number was ten. And therewith they armed them- selves with honor and loyalty and girded themselves with love and went forth to bring new glory to their name. Anon, withal, they made a feasting and dancing for the fair semblage and there was dancing and minstrelsy and all manner of joy. And. when the year had waned their hearts mourned sorely for the passing of their Senior sisters, fair and honored. And they gath- ered themselves together and de- parted to chant a doleful lay be- neath the tower of the fair Lady Katharine. So endeth the tale of the Sophomores. ANNgALS damsels of our tale crept 'neath the balcony of their beloved precep- tress and chanted, full lusty, their love and loyalty for her. Anon the honorable Sopho- mores prepared a feasting for their sisters and herewith we must make mention of the love the Senior damsels of 1911 hold for the kindly Sophomores. Great cheer and joy was in their hearts and all made merry and the joy waxed high and strong. Then the Lady Katharine did call together all the damsels, and they resorted unto her and she spoke to them saying, Gird up thy gowns and gather together the cakes and all manner of sustenance and prepare a feast. For it was the custom in those days for the Seniors' to hold a feasting among themselves. Then it fell that the damsels were sore abashed, and there rose great dole and sorrow that they had no room wherein to meet and visit with each other. Full fain were they to have this room. So they went and asked one having authority and their petition was granted. This pleased them right well and their hearts were made glad. Then it happened on a day in winter that the juniors bade the Seniors make merry with them at a feasting. Anon, therewithal, they rode with glad hearts to Bald Pate and it is well said, that Juniors did never make as glad the hearts of Senior' damsels as did these fair ones. There was danc- ing and minstrelsy and great re- joicing. And withal the Seniors rode in good peace. And love was deep in the hearts of all the damsels. And then the Seniors held their play and it was a good play and right worthy of the damsels who gave it. V And as 1 draw near to the end of this historie, I say the hearts of all the Senior damsels have been made glad and their love has waxed strong for the other damsels gathered at Bradfordensis Aca- demia and they are full aware that when they take leave of each other and depart, their work will be carried on toward completion by the valiant juniors and this word they leave: that the honor and tradition of Bradfordensis Aca- demia which has endured for many, generations must be sus- tained and increased throughout all the ages that follow. Amen. 'UW Wifi? fbv ibisturte uf the Eamsels uf 1911, uf the Gituegt :mu 415m Scbuui in all the lupus Quuuttp.
