14 Manga 7a '7!w Gm 81444 During the twelve years of your school life your teachers have acted as guides and directors of learning in your efforts to take advantage of the oppor- tunities of the present day schools. They have tried to instill in you the manners, customs, and ideals of the democratic way of life. They have helped you to acquire practical skills, to develop wholesome habits of living, and to gain wisdom for a full appreciation of life and its opportunities. Students learn what they live and learn it to the degree in which they live it. They acquire the most desirable habits, interests, and ideals for society to the extent that they act in accordance with those habits, interests, and ideals in their everyday school life. The philosophy of your school is to help you in every way possible to live as a happy and useful citizen in school in order that you may continue to practice those habits and ideals after you leave school. Intelligent direction should lead finally to a realization and participation in social responsibilities by you as useful members of society. Thus, your schools should exemplify the values, attitudes, and habits that they hope to develop in you, its graduates. I extend to you sincere good wishes. It is my hope that you may find satis- faction in the work which you choose, pleasure in the interests you have devel- oped, gratification and contentment in living true to the high ideals you have learned in your Alma Mater. C. j. MCMAHON
