MAHAN Vice-Principal Mrs. Lucille Herndon, counselor, obtained a Bach- elor of Science Degree from the University of Texas and a Masters Degree in Education from Our Lady of the Lake College. She guides students in choosing a high school cur- riculum that will help them most in their chosen goals. She also gives scholastic tests, displays guidance mater- ial, and provides information on education. MRS. LUCILLE HERNDON Counselor Always Willing Mr. George W. Mahan, vice-principal, was gradu- ated from Brackenridge High School. He holds a Bach- elor of Arts Degree from Trinity University and a Master of Arts Degree from St. Mary's University. His duties as vice-principal and dean of boys in- clude discipline, counseling and advising boys, and working out class schedules. In Mr. Hakala's absence, Mr. Mahan assumes the duties of principal. MRS. GRACE C. KEELING Dean of Girls Mrs. Grace C. Keeling, dean of girls, attended the University of Texas where she received her Masters De- gree. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southwest Texas State Teachers College. One of Mrs. Keeling's major duties is providing guidance for the girls and teaching good taste and modesty in personal grooming.

Facult Grows, Largest MRS. ZORA MELTON Treasurer Mrs. Zora Melton, school treasurer and head of the Commercial Department, is completing 51 years of teaching in Texas. Thirty-four of these years have been spent at Brackenridge where she gives practical bookkeeping experience to business students. She also teaches classes in advanced typing and beginning and advanced bookkeeping. Study hall is a valuable time for many students. During this period, which is designated for silent study, a student has the opportunity to catch up on his home- work. Books are keys to open the door of knowledge. Li- brarians Miss Irene Henderson, Miss Elizabeth Fraley, and Mrs. Frances Gembler are the keepers of these keys. Besides supervising the library, they are on hand to help students find books for that fast-approaching term theme or book report.
