MAHAN Vice-Principal Mrs. Lucille Herndon, counselor, obtained a Bach- elor of Science Degree from the University of Texas and a Masters Degree in Education from Our Lady of the Lake College. She guides students in choosing a high school cur- riculum that will help them most in their chosen goals. She also gives scholastic tests, displays guidance mater- ial, and provides information on education. MRS. LUCILLE HERNDON Counselor Always Willing Mr. George W. Mahan, vice-principal, was gradu- ated from Brackenridge High School. He holds a Bach- elor of Arts Degree from Trinity University and a Master of Arts Degree from St. Mary's University. His duties as vice-principal and dean of boys in- clude discipline, counseling and advising boys, and working out class schedules. In Mr. Hakala's absence, Mr. Mahan assumes the duties of principal. MRS. GRACE C. KEELING Dean of Girls Mrs. Grace C. Keeling, dean of girls, attended the University of Texas where she received her Masters De- gree. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Southwest Texas State Teachers College. One of Mrs. Keeling's major duties is providing guidance for the girls and teaching good taste and modesty in personal grooming.

trong Leadership Mr. E. O. Hakala became principal of Brackenridge in 1958, after serving a year as vice-principal. He re- ceived his Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from State Teachers College in Fitchburg, Massachu- setts and his Master of Education from Harvard University. Of all his duties, ranging from choosing the best teachers to setting school policies, his most important is seeing that the students are provided with the best education possible. New rules and regulations are made with the welfare of the students in mind, and emphasis is placed on subjects which will enable the students to one day carry on the affairs of the world. During the first week in December, 1962, Mr. Hakala represented the San Antonio Independent School District and Brackenridge at the 56th Annual Vocation- al Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Mr. Hakala uses the public address system for daily announcements. MR. E. O. HAKALA Principal
