dedication Never die, ever serve, is the -attitude of one of Brack's leading organizations. With- in the few years from 1919 with its director. Mr. Otto Zeller, to 1958 with the present di- rector, Mr. Ir vi n g Dreibrodt, this organiza- tion has brought many coveted honors to Brack- enridge. These include a record for the past fifteen years of winning highest honors a n d awards in the numerous marching and concert contests and the distinction of being selected as the fourth outstanding band in the world at the Lion's International Convention. T h i s or- ganization's ' enthusiastic s u p p o rt and spirit at pep rallies and football games, during pa- rades, and at assemblies can never be equaled. After giving all these things due consid- eration, the La Retama staff tho u g ht it fit- ting to bestow upon this organization the high- est honor that their own scho ol was capable of giving to any person or any organization. As this book represents a full year of planning and working by representatives of the student body, the La Retama staff of 1958 hopes that this honor will become as highly prized as the numerous o t h e r awards. It is to this organi- zation that has achieved state, national, and universal acclaim - the Brackenridge Band of the past and of the present - that the staff, with deepest respect and admiration, dedicates this thirty-ninth e dition of the La Retama.
