jkeme Gut of the annals of the Southwest have come many picturesque legendary heroes. Perhaps the most colorful of these is Pecos Bill. The ranch tales of Texas, through their appeal to people all over the country, play a vital part in helping a city as old and atmospheric as San Antonio to hecome unique and modern. Thus, Pecos Bill, as well as heing known and loved in San Antonio and throughout the whole of Texas, has helped to put the Southwest on the map in the eyes of citizens everywhere hy making himself a distinct part of the folklore of the United States. It is fitting, therefore, that We choose Pecos Bill, an old legendary Texas cowhoy, to introduce our rapidly expanding modern city of San Antonio. ,-Pat Olsen PAGE 4
