cfmfin ' 'nn On December 10, 1957, Father Flanaganis Boys' Home completed the 40th year of its ex- istence. These -10 years have been dedicated to the service and welfare of homeless boys. Since December 10, 1917, when our Founder, the late, beloved Bisgr. Edward Flanagan, opened the doors to five homeless boys, more than 8,000 boys have been citizens of Boys Town. Deprived through no fault of their own of the benefits of a good home, it has been the only real home many of them ever knew. At Boys Town they found love and care and understanding. Patient teachers and counselors have sacrificed themselves so that these young men might be prepared for a useful life. Here they received opportunities for a good education, based upon the fundamental principle that unless we build upon solid religious training, we cannot accomplish much. A well-balanced program of academic and vocational education, of wholesome sport, of cultural activities and extra-curricular pursuits, has been designed to fashion boys into mature men who are prepared to take their rightful places in the community, a credit to themselves and to Boys Town. Brothers Donold, Deon, Gene ond Roy Albert of Wichito, Konsos, ore welcomed by Fother Weg- ner upon their orrivol ot Boys Town in July of 1957. The Class of 1958 is the 22nd to receive diplomas from the Boys Town High School. The members of this fine Senior class will soon join other thousands who have gone be- fore you. All of us at Boys Town are proud of what you already have accomplished. Your achievements in the classroom and in other fields of endeavor are but a promise of even greater accomplishments to come. The years ahead will prove the real worth of your train- ing at Boys Town, and I am certain that our pride will ever increase with the passing of time. My best wishes and those of all your deans, your teachers, your counselors, and all who have had a hand in your training are with you. May the best of good fortune go always with you, and may God keep His arm about you all the days of your lives. gigs
