Then came The day we leTT our books, our brains, and Boys High's doors behind us To be- gin our much needed summer vacaTion and To assume The digniTy oT a SENIOR. SENIORS Well TorTiTied by a summer oT resT, we marched belligerenTly Through The porTals oT B.l-l.S. in The Tall. l.eT everyone geT ouT oT our paTh! We were seniors. True, we were only uncivilized seniors and were merely To receive our Training Tor seniorhoocl during This Termp buT, Technically, we could be called seniors. The TiTle meanT a loT To us. As sevenfh Termers we had plenTy To shouT abouT in The Tield oT B.l-l.S. sporTs. The TooT- ball Team climaxed a surprising season by ouTclassing Madison 40-I4. lT was during This campaign ThaT The TirsT annual award in mem- ory oT Colonel Mickey Marcus was presenTed To Joe Maglio. Then, oT course, There was Doc ElsTein's ieT-heeled Track Team To brighTen our days. Again, sparked by Jim Conaway, George Shaw, and Roger MonTgomery, all members oT The June '49 class, They crumpled all opposi- Tion beTore Them. During This Term we were represenTed in The sTudenT governmenT by Frank Marchese, who Triumphed over Irwin GorensTein oT ThaT semesT- er's senior body in The A.A. vice presidenTial race. The maTh Team, capTained by Don SoliTar, also one oT us, enjoyed anoTher greaT season in The l.M.L. l-lowever, The members oT The Red and Black and LiTerary Recorder, manned largely by sevenTh Termers, wenT sTorm- ing abouT The building, indig-nanT aT noT being menTionecl in The Columbia Press awards, which lThey ThoughTl They richly deserved. Leonard Eli Reisman was The winner oT The Three year cup over a selecT Tield oT his classmaTes. Ten WiTh all This To occupy our minds We sTill Tound Time Tor sTudy, alThough ThaT phase oT acTiviTy didn'T boTher us anymore. We now had ThaT poise and conTidence ThaT was lacking beTore and seemed To be acquiring more moxy as The day Tlew by Towards our eighTh Term. l-lere, agiTaTion Tor a new building reached iTs peak wiTh The Tounding oT a new P.T.A.. al- Though iT was cerTain ThaT The class oT June '49 never was To Tread The halls oT such an ediTice. Well, anyway, we loaTed Through The ChrisT- mas holidays, crammed like mad Through Janu- ary, plunged Through The regenTs, and emerged in February as bona-Tide seniors. Gone was all apprehension as we donned our huge new sTreamlined senior buTTons and wenT sTalking ThroughouT The building in search oT anyone who had ThaT Treshman look. Our senior Term was gone beTore we knew iT, however. IT passed in a swirl oT college appli- caTions and amidsT Tervid preparaTion Tor col- lege TesTs. We quickly dropped our sense oT superioriTy and goT down To work, as all The main oTTices were conTrolled by seniors. A new deal was ThreaTened in ArisTa wiTh The elecTion oT Frank Marchese and Ben Cappadora as leaders. lncidenTally, Cappaclora, our besT all around man, also was PresidenT oT The A.A. and capTained Mickey Fisher's hoopsTers Through a somewhaT mediocre schedule, highlighTed by The loss oT several hearTbreakers To Jefferson and our arch rival, Brooklyn Tech. BoTh porTs were represenTed in The senior governmenT as George Shaw, ace high iumper and Track Team capTain, was elevaTed To The posiTion oT senior class presidenT, and Big John Wizbicki, The rebound and jump shoT arTisT Tor The baskeTeers, was elecTed vice presidenT. And so, we, who have spenT The besT years oT our lives TogeTher are separaTing and here we sTand on The Threshold oT our careers. Some will aTTend college, oThers will go direcTly To The business world, buT wherever we go, and whaTever we do, we will have one Thing in common -our sincere pride in being Boys l-ligh graduaTes.
