Eew oT us will quiTe TorgeT our second year, if only Trom The sTandpoinT oT a TooTball en- ThusiasT. Boys High's canny maesTro, Wally Muller, Tielded a decidedly reasonable Tac- simile oT a TirsT class eleven ThaT Tall, headed by The incomparable runner deluxe, Skippy Easke. They proceeded To brush aside six sTraighT opponenTs, and reached Their peak The aTTernoon They meT up wiTh The power- laden, undeTeaTed Tech gridders. All ThaT was aT srake was The myThical ciTy championship. The Mullermen, behind I3-6 wiTh scanT sec- onds remaining, scored a T.D. and added The exTra poinT in Typical Erank Merriwell Tashion To Tie The Engineers I3-I3 To gain a 501 hold on The P.S.A.L. crown. NOT To be ouTdone in The way oT aThleTic success, Doc ElsTein's winged TooTers also broughT home The bacon Thar year. The Track- sTers won The ouTdoor MeTropoliTan TiTle, de- TeaTing Their nearesT rival, New UTrechT, wiTh plenTy To spare. The denizens oT B.H.S. likewise, Tared well in academic achievemenT. The Columbia Press AssociaTion awarded a medalisT To The Red and Black, and a TirsT place raTing To The LiTerary Recorder. NoTeworThy, also, were The accomplishmenTs oT The Boys High musical organizaTions. The Melody Men broughT acclaim To Old Iron- sides lB.H.S.l, perTorming admirably in siv- eral concerTs over sTaTion W.N.Y.C., and aT Th, Brooklyn Museum, while The Band, under The agile baTon oT Max WeinsTein, commemoraTed iTs TwenTieTh anniversary. AnoTher memorable phase oT our soph year was The resumpTion oT The long-dead single session, and The inTroducTion oT an annex. Ap- proximaTely 800 Treshman lhall sTudenTs, ac- companied by a number oT our prominenT TaculTy, migraTed To The annex. Those oT us who remained in This age-old TixTure, ThaT is Boys High, viewed The innova- Tion oT The single session wiTh a mixTure oT skepTicism and inTense saTisTacTion. Many deemed The school day, lengThened by some Two hours, would inTerTere wiTh Their posT- EighT school iobs. However, The maioriTy refused TO conTesT The new procedure when They learned ThaT iT permiTTed almosT 30 more minuTes of JUNIORS We were now Juniors, Two years away Trom our desTinaTion-graduaTion. We were very proud individuals sTruTTing across The halls wiTh Senior buTTons clipped on To our Boys High sweaTers. We easily passed as seniors, aT leasT we ThoughT we did. We had Two years oT ex- perience in Boys High School, and we knew iusT where we were going and whaT we were doing. Each oT us knew exacTly whaT Teachers handed ouT cuTTing cards, and whaT Teachers didn'T. The TirsT halT oT The Third year was an im- porTanT one To us, poliTically, since we Tinally had a voice in The school governmenT Through our TiTTh Term represenTaTive. Bob RosenThal, sleep. Hal Johnson, and Harry TeiTelbaum were The A.A.'s president vice-presidenT, and secreTary, respecTively, aT This Time. Our TooTball Team was quiTe unsuccessTul, and we were all much disappoinTed. BuT, The Mul- lermen, headed by Herbie HorowiTz and Andy lppoliTo, cerTainly gave us a big boosT when They Trimmed Erasmus, Boys Highs TradiTional Toe. AT The end oT The Tall Term we ToughT The big snow, 25.6 inches To be exacT, To geT To school. The cold February winds saw Mickey Eish- er's BaskeTball Team in The Garden playoTTs, wiTh all oT us in The sTands cheering. AlThough we losT To a Tavored Lincoln Team, we were very proud oT our baskeTeers, a colorTul bunch oT ballplayers wiTh a loT oT spiriT. IT will be hard To TorgeT how They Trounced Brooklyn Tech, 47-37, To geT inTo The playoTTs. IT was during This same Term ThaT Doc ElsTein's Track sTars capTured all The Track hon- ors in sighT.
