Though fhe baskefball feam experienced a mediocre season, fhe Fiffh Annual Track and Field Meef was hailed as a greaf success. FALL I943 Upon becoming upper sophomores, fhe day, so many of us had eagerly awaifed, had finally come. We were fo rise wifh fhe dawn, and SHORT ioyously wend our way fo school wifh fhe A. M. session. Hal Braunsfein, Burfon Monasch, and Frank Sperandeo were our chief execufives, elecfed fhe previous ferm under fhe newly organized sysfem. Ed Boofh, fhe firsf major wri're-in candidafe in fhe school's hisfory, placed second in fhe presidenfial race, alrnosf winning 'fhe excifing elecfion. Once again foofball was in fhe limelighf, and sfudenfs wenf ouf fo back fhe Mullermen eleven. Such sfars as John Fonfana, Angy Maglio, Herb Brandf and Harvey Denis made up a powerful aggregafion which losf only once, 7-6 fo Lincoln, fhough 'rying fhree. Fon+ana's sfellar performance fhroughouf fhe season earned for him fhe fifle All Cify Tackle A Red and Black feam, Murray Lerner, Julius Sherman and Eddie Marcus, monopo- lized fhe Kid Wizards Radio Show, reign- ing supreme for fen weeks. The hundredfh semi-annual Declamafion Classic provided a brillianf orafory program while fhe Mafhlefes won fhe lnferscholasfic Mafhemafics League championship for fhe second successive ferm.
