of-fo Mr. Sweeney is coach of foot- ball, basketball, and track. He also teaches Civics. ojko MR. ToM QUINN MR. IAMES SWEENEY A Tribute to Tom Quinn There is, perhaps, not a single sentiment which the Class of 1953 can express in proffering thanks to Tom Quinn that has not already been well stated by the many grateful mem- bers of preceding classes, who have been likewise indebted to Tom. Nevertheless, we are pleased to have the opportunity to add our thanks to the ringing tributes of those who have gone before: for it can truthfully be said that our high school days have been made fuller and more pleasant by his presence in the school. He has been to us not only a shining example of the faith- ful performance of duty but a true and gracious friend as well. He will be fondly remembered by us all.

SENIOR HONOR STUDENTS Firsl' Row-G. Harrington, 1. Monaghan, I. Noonan, W. Scarrah, G. Tahija, R. Reilly, G. Bugni. Second Row-R. Warila, F. Martinich, L. Hightower, C. Neufelder, R. Petraitis, P. HISTORY OF THE CLASS OF T953 NOTHER YEAR has rolled around and we find it our turn to bid fare- well to Central, and looking back we recall the many happy hours we spent in the halls of Old Central High. September 6, 1949, was the day of our arrival and we tumbled in rather timid but full of life. For the first few weeks we didn't exactly know what was going on, but we gradually adjusted ourselves to the Central way of life. Twenty-one of our members claimed places on the Honor Roll. Vile also had representatives in Football, Basketball, Dramatics, Band, Orchestra and Tumbling. Sophomore year started off with a bang. A few of our class-mates won admission to the Monogram Club. We gained a few more places on the Honor Roll and our participants in other activities grew in numbers. Our athletes won a few more laurels in the fields and on the courts. We took top honors in the Intramural Track Meet. We studied diligently, in true Central style, and prepared ourselves for our coming junior year. Second only to the Seniors, full of life and bubbling over with Central Spirit, we entered our junior year determined to uphold the traditions of Central High School. We were represented in Varsity and B Football, Varsity Basketball, Track, Key Club, Library Staff, Monogram Club, Band, Accordion Band, Or- chestra, Dramatics and Tumbling. We took a deeper interest in studies that year too, and prepared ourselves for the next year when we would be the up- perclassmen. ' Seniors, at last. We started the last lap of our high school career. We got off to a roaring start when our Football team captured the Class A Champion- ship, the peak of our high school days. More activities, more studies, more fun all add up to make happy memories for our Senior Year. College, work, war, we're not sure what the next few years will bring, but thanks to Central High School, we go out into the world well prepared to meet almost any trial.
